So I have a bout in thirteen days, im not quite fight fit as I start to gas in the second round of high intensity sparring. I also need to drop a kilo or two, what should I do from now up until my fight? I weight roughly 140 lbs, I need to get down to 136, (62 or 61kg) any advice? tonight im planning to do 9 minutes of shadowboxing, 9 minutes skipping and a quick 15 minute run as im not at the gym...
2 weeks isnt enough time to increase your level of fitness in any dramatic sense... just need to learn to work with what gas you have available to you at the time
As I said I tend to start gassing in the second round of high intensity sparring, I dont think any dramatic improvement is needed, what do you think?
agreed just because your stamina dosent allow you to throw punches for 3min every round dosen't mean your screwd. if your coach has taught you how to control the pace then do so. if your coach hasn't taught you how to control the pace that's your best option for what you should work on for the next 2 weeks. of course im no expert i have 4 years amateur experience and its just my opinion
Are you novice or open? Adult or senior? Those are all factors as well as you fight different round lengths
I usually do pace myself and try fight smart, im surprised you all dont seem to think I can improve my fitness to cope with one more round in two weeks lol? I might be wrong but that sounds crazy... thanks
If you're not fit for three rounds now it's highly unlikely you're going to be able to make any significant improvement in two weeks. Training is about overloading the body then allowing fatigue to dissipate, to enhance performance. You can train hard and fatigue yourself in two weeks but you're just going to be doing more harm than good as you don't have time to recover properly. Work on your movement and try to become more efficient. You might have a small gas tank but you can work around that by not using up as much gas.
I get what you are saying, today I done 5 rounds, I think they were two minutes. The first I was going 80%, the second my friend was tired so I was just relaxing and picking shots, the next three were hard and me and the other dude both ended up waiting for each other to engage through tiredness but I still had some left in the tank. I guess my body knows I am capable of doing that amount of work, I was just unfit recently and the work I have done at home and on the road yesterday has brought me back up to a better standard, kind of like muscle memory but endurance memory? if that exists...
I mean the short and simple is you know where your at and need to work with what you have for this fight. The logical side of me says dont fight until you are fit, but i know how hard it is to get fights so the other side of me says do it. Just work with what you got. Also get away from that 2 min sparring stuff its worthless
Had a bout a few weeks ago, go ill afterwards so I was on and off for a couple of weeks but im back full time now and trying to regain fitness.
