When was Mayweather in his prime physically?

I have to say ever since the Mosley fight it seems like he has lost quite a bit of speed... Even before that he lost a slight sliver of speed...

I think prime mayweather physically was between 2001 to 2007. This is when his speed/power/stamina/reflexes were all peaked. I believe he continues to win as he gains smarts overtime. Which brings me to the next question...

What was his overall prime? I believe in every fight since Mosley the rate at which he gains experience and knowledge is less than the rate he deteriorates physically.

What are yall's opinions on this matter?

His reign at Super Featherweight. He was still prime and elite in the higher weights, but never had hand problems at Super Featherweight.

wel he kind of has 2 primes, one was at 130-135 where he had much better power and was a great mix of defensive and offensive fighting styles

i think early 147 days is when floyd transitioned into a complete defensive fighter where his ring IQ developed further

140 his record is pooh.....BUT....he looked like he had it all in that short stint there.

He was crisp and on point in everything.....wish he could have gotten the fights he wanted there...really would have squashed alot of the slander

Superfeather no doubt. He moved up for the money, it's where the big names and thus big fights were. Fully grown he walks around at 146, and that's after he purposely packed on muscle. I have no doubt he could have stayed at 130, at the absolute very least 135 his whole career comfortably. Of course he has always been defensive minded, but he had to be much more so at 147 and especially 154, due to huge size differentials. At those weights, he is forced to be more defensive, thus he has adapted. At superfeather, where he naturally belongs, he was a genuine puncher. He showed very respectable power, he could hurt pretty much anyone. Without all the extra weight bearing him down, his footwork was much faster, which made his offense far more exciting. The Mayweather of the Corrales fight had the greatest combination of impregnable defense, and explosive offensive I have ever seen, I wish he stayed there. Just imagine if he stayed at that weight where physically he was his best, while getting all the years of experience he has gained through the years, I'd love to have seen that fighter.

When he was retired. He managed not to get beaten by Margarito and Paul Williams.

Mayweather's best weight was 140, he had power at 140, at 154 and 47 although he's a great boxers, his power lacks.

true, he was at his absolute peak at 140. dude was unbeatable from 130 to 140. for him to stay unbeaten at 147 and 154 is incredible since he has been past his best since the judah fight

nobody would fight him, for good reason. guaranteed L and not the payday to make it worth while. floyd chased the money but to still be unbeaten is unbelievable. never again will we see anything close to even past it floyd
