I can't believe there are people who actually think Madonna won the fight

Like I said the day of the fight. It comes down to if you're scoring for activity or accuracy. Its preference.

^this. couldn't agree more. You lay on the ropes for six rounds and wonder why it was close. He tried to pot shot and threw one punch at a time. As far as fans saying Maidana wasn't landind, pointing to the punch stats.... what did you want him to do? Floyd covered up. You have to give those rounds to Maidana.

Had it 7-5 for May. The intrigue for me was if Maidana was going to hurt or slow May before he inevitably gassed and the pace reverted to what May prefers. He didn't quite get there. Nobody beats May when he gets to fight at his own pace.

Rounds 1, 5, and 8 for Maidana... That is all. He kept many of the others close, but people don't seem to understand the already established criteria for scoring professional boxing.

So many people are boxing ignorant. The emphasis should be on quality punches, skill and who was the Boss at the end of the fight. It was a good scrap. Floyd for once had to earn his money. At the end of the day --- Floyd won hands down.

All rounds are scored equally whether it be the first or last. It is essentially 12 fights that are scored independently and with equal weight. Who is coming on at the end does not really matter more than they are compiling the late rounds.

Boxing is not scored on skill. It is scored on effective aggression and ring generalship which are generally byproducts of things such as talent, skill and heart. But the bout is not scored on who appears to be more skilled. And remember that skill comes in many flavor. A cagey counter puncher has a different skill set than a crowding action fighter but can both be very skilled at what they do.

I had Floyd winning because he demonstrated the more effective aggression in 7 of the 12 rounds. I could even accept that he won 8 rounds in this manner. But almost every round was competitive which made it a good and "close" fight.

I can justify your score but in a 7-5 fight nobody can say there was a whooping either way as it is a close fight.

I didn't know that old bltch was fighting.

Did you catch the Mayweather vs. Maidana fight though? A lot of people think that the fight was a draw or even a loss for Mayweather. What do you think? :D

Mayweather outlanded Maidana in 6 out of 12 rounds... that means he got outlanded in 6 out of 12 rounds. Now, punchstats are not always accurate and they don't really mean anything because you don't use them to score a pro fight... and you shouldn't.

    Mayweather outlanded Maidana in rounds 2, 7, 9, 10, 11, and 12.

    Maidana outlanded Mayweather in rounds 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8.

Maidana missed more but he threw a lot more. Even when you miss you can be effective (effective aggressiveness). Some shots miss completely but others get blocked or partially blocked... many of them still hurt. No matter what it puts the other guy on the defensive. Connect % doesn't mean much when you don't significantly outland your opponent. If you throw 1 punch and land it you have connected for a 100% avg. If you throw 100 punches and land 5 you have connected for only a 5% avg... but you better have won that round as long as you didn't go down or lose a point some other way.

Round 2 could have went either way even though Mayweather outlanded Maidana by a few shots, occording to the punch stats.

Round 8 could have went either way even though Maidana landed a few more shots than Mayweather... again, occording to the punch stats.

I had the fight even, 114-114, but could see it going 115-113 for either fighter.

10-2 for Mayweather? I'd have to call you a Mayweather fan boy based off of that scorecard! If I was a Maidana fan boy my scorecard would read 8 rounds to 4 (116-112), but I'm not, I'm not blinded by anything.
