Trivia question- what do the following fighters have in common:

Chad Dawson, Antonio Tarver, Jermaine Taylor, Kelly Pavlik, Adrien Broner, Andre Dirrell, Mike Jones, James Kirkland, Devon Alexander, Victor Ortiz and Keith Thurman

If you answered they are all American fighters that have all been heavily showcased on US networks and been hearald as the next big thing when in reality they have glass jaws and don't belong above domestic level, you, like me are a knowledgeable boxing fan.

However the vast majority of fans I see are brainwashed into believing if we are told that Broner is the next Sugar Ray Leonard or Floyd Mayweather by his promoter and a TV network trying to sell their fights- you take it as Gospel then look on in awe as he is being given a boxing lesson by a slow predictable and limited Argentinian brawler.

Believe it or not the vast majority of fans, because Joe Calzaghe wasn't showcased by HBO, after years of being ducked by Hopkins, Jones Jr and Toney, believed Jeff Lacy could beat The Fighting Pride of Newbridge Wales, when anyone who has ever formed their own opinion and not that of promoters and TV networks knew Lacy was a lamb being lead to the slaughter and the fight should never have been sanctioned.

Yet after all these years, you still cannot separate the real deal from the genuine article. The amount of posters I've seen who say "Keith Thurman would beat Mayweather and Pacquiao", are you ****ing kidding me? This guy who fights like someone in the pub, goes life and death with Diego Chaves and nearly gets stopped in round one by Jesus Soto Karass is going to beat two of the best fighters of this generation . He'd be lucky to beat Cornelius Bundrage on the domestic scene.

I know 95% of you casuals won't know who these two are and won't be able to understand the commentary but look at these two go at it in one of the best fights of the last century:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N339tLnqpBM

Now, they are only two fighters in a division that also the likes of Roman Gonzalez, Akiria Yaegashi, Juan Francisco Estrada, Kazuto Ioka, Edgar Sosa, Luis Concepion, Milan Melindo, Morthui Mthlane, Brian Vilioria, Amnat Runerong and at least a dozen others who are better fighters than the likes of Thurman and Broner will ever be.

Now, would you rather watch that or watch a guy like Amir Khan derail a hype job like Porter or Thurman and earn a mismatch against Mayweather and having to shell out for another PPV that is a foregone conclusion.

Boxing's biggest problem is its brainwashed fans.

Average at best. But he is a quitter and overhyped and if he was from any other country would never have been on world level.

Hbo and show time not showing wlad. Their job is to show fights their viewers wanna see...that explains why they stopped showing wlad and why they show some fighters you listed e.g. Rigo is not a hypejob but hbo said they don't wanna show him again

Thurman has been down 1 time in his career and came back to KO his opponent in next round looking for Thurmans Glass jaw... never saw him in trouble in karass fight he got hit but didn't falter in first round that was only time in that fight karass never had him in trouble. Hans if your going to spout know your facts. I know according to you brook is the best thing since the queen started wearing panties. We shall see if he suddenly has an injury like every other time he has a title shot.

This is very true. The smaller weight classes are full of talent and the fights are extremely exciting. I haven't seen any on Showtime and its a shame.

Showtime or HBO should've shown Moises Fuentes vs. Donnie Nietes: II at least.

Yep been saying this for a long time, even on ppv evennts they would bring alot of excitement to the card and always have action packed fights and wouldn´t cost that much, we have Segura who is said to fight Estrada in the fall in what looks like a FOTY candidate, you got Chocolatito, Marquez, Inoue, Rosas all having great fights

I assure you alt. A year from now Thurman's glass chin will be talked about with the same regularity as Khan's.

And every other time Brook has had a title fight? So you mean once? When his opponent pulled out too? Then Mayweather tweeted about fighting him but it was only Brooks injury that wasn't legit?:lol:

Showtime used to show the smaller dudes. I guess GBP brought in bigger guys with bigger fan bases.
