3G haters are basically fans of reality TV star fighters and like their fluff and big names that have become irrelevant, unwilling to give new talent a shout or a look.

Would like to point out that the myth that Golovkin hasn't fought anyone to earn a shot(like Cotto has done well recently, lol...)is bogus.

Macklin vs Geale may have even seen Macklin a winner since that guy is not a bad fighter and was robbed against Sturm, gave Martinez a very competitive fight and KOed Alcine, yet that isn't regarded as a solid win for 3G.

Macklin was a top 5 MW when Golovkin made short work of him. Macklin was regarded as a noteworthy win for Sergio prior to Golovkin destroying him and a lot of clowns over at BN24, mainly ***** oriented, picked Macklin to outbox him. 3G wrecks him like nothing and Macklin's a bum and not a noteworthy win...

You take out Pavlik and Williams and Serg's resume isn't any better than Golovkin's. Chavez Jr sux, you saw Macklin vs Golovkin, Barker and Dzinziruk are just contender level guys, etc...

Serg didn't have a resume before his shot at Williams, aside from Alex Bunema and Kermit Cintron. That's far less than what Golovkin has consistently shown so far, which consistency is the key - he dominates all of his opponents regardless of style and other attributes. In fact, most of his opponents go into survival mode and have absolutely no answer to him, which is a show of immense quality.

Pavlik didn't have a resume pre-Taylor aside from Miranda and some journeymen.

Miranda is WORSE than Macklin, Stevens, Rosado and so on, all Miranda turned out to be was a journeyman/gate keeper that lost every noteworthy fight he was in, mostly very badly at that... yet Pavlik showing a nice consistency in KTFO everyone he was facing and obviously being the next best MW got him the shot at Jermain Taylor and a changing of hands with the title happened.

No excuses for Serg to not face 3G after sending Cotto hopefully into retirement and 3G haters need to wake up and realize that 3G is the one not being treated fairly.

Hope he gets Geale and smashes him up to further prove he's the MW King.

So anyone thinking he hasn't earned a shot and that this Cotto-Martinez fight is acceptable is your typical modern day boxing fan that contributes to the watering down and ruination of this amazing sport.

Also - Ward can quit bitching and step up to LHW if he wants to cite a guy who hasn't even finished his business a division below to step up to him. Ward did finish his business at SMW, there's nothing left for him there except Froch/Groves. Dude needs to step out of Oakland and take some challenges and quit this primadonna, sour patch kid routine.

Respect to Ward for being one of the best in boxing, but get in the ring and start traveling outside of the dump you live in(I reside in Oakland, nothing special here).

I discussed fight strategy and meshing of styles when I first started posting on boxing over a decade ago. All the X's and O's talk did not change anyone's mind either so now I just have fun and support the fighters I enjoy watching.

The last thing I need to expend mental energy on is convincing a bunch of anonymous message board denizens much of anything.

i dont follow ggg to closely tho its fairly evident no one at 160 wants to go near him, so for that i feel for him as he wants desperately to prove his greatness

HOWEVER... when you say you will fight anyone from 154 to 168 multiple times and continue to duck ward (the number 2 p4p) well that just says alot..

groves has also stated he would love to fight him (after froch obviously).

its sad that he is forced to move up to find a decent opponent but if you said you were willing to do so then back it up (to bad bob arum ****ed him over in the chavez fight)

I think his team meant that they are willing to fight anyone from 154 to 168 thats worth fighting (financially speaking), ironically, Ward presents GGG the same problem GGG does to other fighters; High risk, low reward.

Ward is a much bigger draw than anyone Golovkin has faced.

Rodriguez got a million dollar purse.

Kind of amazing to see people still talking about how a guy with pending Federal lawsuit against his promoter is being ducked by anyone. Cause HBO is in such a huge hurry to step into that quagmire.

When Ward starts actually fighting again, then people can start asking why GGG and Ward dont meet - if they havent.

The criticism of Golovkin isn't what he can do, it's what he has done.

He has only fought three fighters who anyone could argue were top 10 fighters, and I would argue that only Macklin was.

    Macklin- RING #5 MW
    Stevens- RING #8 MW
    Proksa- RING #10 MW

Golovkin has great depth on his resume, having fought high activity with great results against known journeyman and fringe contenders. However, any truly proving and highly significant fights worth noting 20 years from now, are completely missing from the top of his resume.

Many people criticize some fighters who won vacant titles without beating any champion of note. While I really don't see it as a negative, some do, and those might site this for Golovkin's WBA title as well.

Middleweight is shallow and while Golovkin is the next best MW to Sergio, he still hasn't really done anything than continue to win and stay active (as well as his obviously great performances he puts in). He has one of the weaker resumes among any fighter who is considered one of the two best in their division right now.

his team did not say it.. HE SAID IT.. multiple times.

ward is not low reward.. HE IS P4P #2 and basically undisputed 168. if he beats him he holds belts, skyrockets in ranking and gains a lot of exposure

wheres the downside ? he is kind of expected to lose because he is moving from 160 and alot of people favor ward

    Uh, source?
The last interview I read from Ward ranged from his promoter not getting him fights to him wanting to fight, to him not wanting to put money in his promoter's pocket...So which one is it?

I guess he's flip flopping again like the way he did when he wanted the Chavez Jr fight and then again when there was talks of Chavez Jr fighting Froch.
When GGG wants to fight the champ@160= 'Who GGG beet?" "He ain't fite nobody!"
Anytime the undisputed(and boring as all hell) champ @168 needs a headline he mentions GGG= "Why GGG duckin Ward?"
Are you boys sure you want to see GGG in there with Ward?

Landing clean on Ward's chin might be the 2nd hardest thing to do in boxing right now. It's going to take a smart fighter who can manage distance, punch with power, and knows how to set those punches up.
Ward isn't KOing Golovkin and Golovkin has 12 rounds to work Ward out and land what he needs to. If GGG lands clean on that chin...the dream is over.

As a fan of Golovkin myself, I have to admit that the hate he's getting is mostly based on his resume which is reasonable. However, what the haters fail to realize is that Golovkin is definitely trying to make big fights but can't seem to get them sadly, he even attempted to move up in weight to get Chavez Jr. So it's not really Golovkin's fault he's not able to score fights against big names. All it will take is more hype from his promotion and a big name will eventually be forced to take this fight. I'm expecting the winner of Martinez-Cotto to fight Golovkin next.

Regarding Ward, his problem isn't fighting in Oakland, it's his promoter. Ward is exactly where every foreign fighter wishes he was and that's America, where the real big fights happen. All Ward needs to do is dump Goossen before he's left a complete unknown like all the rest Goossen promoted.
