Amir Khan says British rival Kell Brook is running scared of IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter and will pull out of this summer's proposed fight.

Sheffield's Brook, unbeaten in 32 pro bouts, is mandated to face American Porter before 19 July.

But Bolton's Khan, who wants a fight with WBC and WBA title-holder Floyd Mayweather, says Brook "lacks bottle".

"Brook-Porter is not going to happen because Kell doesn't think he can win it," Khan told BBC Sport.

Khan added that he felt Porter's performance against former world champion Paulie Malignaggi last month would have worried Brook.

"I don't think Kell has got the bottle to take a big fight like that - he's always been all talk when it comes to the big fights," Khan said. "Some fighters are like that."

I know that both of them are not the best of friends, but was this necessary to say? But what does everyone else think, does he have a point?

I agree, i see no reason for Kell to pullout. Porter will be a big test for him and contesting for a world title belt away from home against top opposition will be a big challenge. I do hope he is successful and brings the title back to the UK. A domestic fight between the two would be great.

If brook doesn't take this fight he's gonna lose a lot of fans including me
I see it as a winnable fight for brook too. He needs to get over the states

Kell has to take this fight, he knows it and so does Eddie.

If he does pull out, his marketability will plummet and all fans (myself included) will desert him.

Brook has no choice, he has made noises about wanting big fights so he either takes it or gets dogs abuse.

And let's see if Khan has real belief in himself and is not just after a payday and fights a young, ranked WW with genuine ambition, Khan keeps repeating things like "Mayweather is running scared" Well if he honestly believes that then go beat Keith Thurman and make a real statement.

Young and undefeated fighters doesn't usually end well for Khan when he takes them on.

That's the problem with boxing nowadays, its all about making the most money with the least amount of risk. There are plenty of fights for Khan to make in the WW division but all he talks about is Floyd. As for Keith Thurman, there are plenty of fighters out there that are dodging him at the moment. He poses a high risk low reward scenario. Yes a win against him would be good, but it won't make you much money. This is how the majority of boxers see it.

Amir is on the money, TBF.

Kell has ALWAYS had something get in the way of a big fight. How many times can it be someone else's fault?

If there's one thing you can't slag Khan off about, it's his willingness to fight the best. He does have no fear in that regard.

Fighting the best? Look at his record AND who he has tried to make fights with. Then look at Brook's.

Brook is having trilogies with Carson Jones, mate.:lol:

I think Kell is either being badly managed or they are trying to guide him the safest way possible. Unfortunately for Kell, the WW division is probably the best around at the moment, with also top LWW fighters also dipping into it too. You have two all-time greats also still operating at this weight.

There is no easy way out, for Kell. Porter will be the moment of truth for him. If he wins then the sky's the limit!

Of course it will, the WW division is the hardest out there. No easy fight out for anyone to get a title.
