Khans power. Underrated?

i think he should go to the body more he has a great left hook to the body but he doesnt use it enough, i think he gets more stoppages that way

his power shocked me against collozo. never thought he could drop him with a single shot like he did in the 4th. his power is average. its his accumulation that can add up though. he swelled petersons face more then any other boxer did.

either way for a fast fighter, he is in the latter part of his career, hence he's gone with Virgil to learn new tricks, because his speed will slowly start to go, the speed he had vs Maidana/Judah/Paulie was insane at the time Paulie/judah were a fast fighter but they looked slow. Fighters who rely on speed only like khan, prime years are normally between 23-26, now he is adding more technique and dirty boxing. Thats why he looked shot vs Diaz, Molina because his speed was slowing and didnt have the improved technique, still is open for the left hook though.

I'm a big fan of boxing, but I know much more about other sports. I know in track and field they say your prime years are age 27-29. You look at how old athletes were when they broke world records. Usain Bolt is a bit of an outlier because he has shattered records in the 100 meters. However, Michael Johnson was in his late 20s when he broke the 200meter record and early 30s when he broke the 400meter record. Mike Powell was 28 or 29 when he broke the long jump record.

And from a boxinging perspective, Most would agree Pacquiao's prime was 2009....so that would put him at around 29. So Khan should be entering his prime right now. Perhaps having fought so much when he was just 17-18 years could play a factor in him fading as he gets older, plus the wars. But Pacquiao was no stranger to tough fights either.

I think he looked sub par against Diaz because he was struggling with the weight. In addition, he got caught early and though he recovered ok...he wasn't quite 100% for the rest of that fight. I thought he looked very fast against Molina. The only issue I saw was a decrease in power. But I think the Collazo fight was a good comeback. He added strength...kept the speed....and added some savvy as well.
