Paul Smith WBO Title shot

He used to post on boxrec and belittled anyone that said he would lose to degale and was as ever abusive to those that doubted he was wrong.

He was duly thrashed and has never posted again because he couldn't handle the stick he would get.

He sticks to twitter were he can ban people that challenge him and has little group of nut huggers to help him out when ever anyone dare question his ability in the ring.

I remember a poster saying to him you need to show more respect to the fans as you'd be nothing without them and he said something along the lines of ''well were would the fans be without us boxers??''

Again talks like a boxer of a much higher pedigree than himself.

 

He's a tosser, I hope he loses to AA.

 

He blocked me for asking him if he deep down thought he deserved a title shot and was one of the best super middle in the world. He didn't reply and just blocked me, guess that answered my question.

 

Sounds about right mate he wants nothing but praise and anything less will earn you an insult follwed by a ban so as you cant respond to it

 

What do u expect,what was he meant to say?that hes british level and doesnt deserve it,the man boxes for a living,and deep down probably has no respect for a key board warrior who has probably never even stepped foot into a boxing gym,personally I dont think Paul is good enough to fight for a world title but can hardly begrudge the man..

 

Hardly being a keyboard warrior just asking a question. I'm sure if we went back through your posts you've slated fighters on here. To be honest I could care less what he thinks either way. He doesn't have to say that no, but he could be a little bit more honest and say all that he's lucky to have the chance and be a little less arrogant, and a bit more honest. You'd swear the guy had been through everyone in the division and was the champion in waiting the way he goes on.

 

I personallt dont think Paul deserves a title shot based on the opposition he has faced in his past few fights, maybe a couple of eliminators or WBO sanctioned fights like Brian Rose had and you could jusify it. But I certaintly wouldnt begrudge him of his shot, he has a Golden opportunity and has jumped at it like most would. He will be fighting in a big arena in front of Millions of viewers and has a chance (albeit probably an outside one) of upsetting Abraham and bringing the belt home. I for one wish him all the luck in the World and will be supporting him.

Did any of you see Abraham's last fight? Whether you like Smith as a person or not, he's surely got a good chance of beating today's Abraham hasn't he?

I only wonder why Groves or Degale haven't bothered to have a sniff around that WBO belt for the past couple of years.

 

That very well was me mate and he then told me I'm not a boxing fan and never go to fights and he bets I stream all the fights and don't even pay for sky/boxnation. I then told him the forums were right he WAS a w4nker. He then called me fat (fair game I'm 14 stone and overweight but I sit at a desk all day not train).

I then saw a tweet from him (it was RT because I don't follow him) which he was slagging Gemma from TOWIE for being on Splash. I replied to him saying you weren't exactly in the best shape against Ambler I could see the fat jiggling about your back as you threw punches. I then got banned.

I don't like him. I also don't like how he looks in a bad mood every single time he talks.

But he is a decent pundit as long as he isn't talking about anyone with the surname Smith.

 

Even todays version of Abraham, Smith would still not see the 12th.

I watched Abraham v Stieglitz (sp?) III the other day, havent got a clue what the judge was watching to give Stieglitz the decision.

Smith would have to fight the same as Stieglitz did in the second fight to stand a chance.

It would be good for British boxing if he bought the belt back home.

 

I've no issue with Paul Smith. He's a bit arrogant, but to be a top sportsman you have to have a bit of that in you. Some express, others don't, but it has to be within you if you are to make the top imo.

The problem here is that this is yet another in a long line of examples of a boxer being given an opportunity he doesn't deserve. Billy pointed out the Burns/Martinez example of where it has gone right, but Ricky lost two UD's earlier in his career - he wasn't knocked out twice unlike Paul (both losses being to prospects too).

I wish him the best and hope he wins, but I don't expect him too and if I am confirmed right I can't help but wonder why the fight was allowed to go ahead when there are plenty of other far more deserving candidates.

I agree. Were he struggles is against power and leaving chin exposed. He is a good boxer, knows the game inside out and has a world class jab. Abraham is not a world class SM regardless of belt is easy to hit and is not a big puncher at weight. Real 50/50 fight for me, CMON Paul

 

Seen Eddie Hearn getting stick for this can't see why. Smith is not a great fighter but as world champs go, Abraham is beatable. Worth a go..
