I don't think it was a bad stoppage. It doesn't compare to the Froch vs Groves stoppage. His face was clearly messed up and he'd been down twice. Clarkson also tweeted that he has been checked out and his jaw is broke. If anything it could have been stopped earlier when Dickinson was struggling and when Clarkson got checked by the doctor. Neither of them are the best boxers in the world but it was a quality war, miles better than the Selby fight even though it was on a lower level.

No problem with the stoppage considering the swollen and battered face of Clarkson. Yest Travis had been down 3 times in the previous round from body shots but theres a lot more grace given where those are concerned. Very surprised the Dr allowed the fight to continue. Matty could barely open or close his mouth when instructed to. Compassionate ref probably saved Clarkson from sustaining a horror injury as opposed to a nasty one.

well considering the kid now gets to fight another day and his 'stock' would have only risen after that fight he'll be in another in not too long i am sure maybe even a rematch. i'm sure some of the smaller hall promoters will be climbing over each other to get that fight on their bill.

Nothing wrong with the stoppage whatsoever, can tell who those who haven't boxed before are in this thread. Clarkson's eye was virtually swelled shut and the side of his face was getting bigger and bigger. Nobody wants a repeat of the Abdusalamov tragedy, and in situations like these it's always best to err on the side of caution.

Doc should have stopped the fight before the ref was forced to
another clean shot on that side and things could have been a lot worse
then people would have been saying the ref should have stopped it earlier

I don't know what some people expect, Clarkson hadn't thrown a punch in 2 minutes his face was a mess and worsening and he was being hit on the damage at will. If you want the circus maximus your a couple of thousand years too late.

Clarkson put on twitter that the doctor told the referee that his jaw was broke. Done him no favours. Fair play to Mick for offering his a fight on the final bill
