It's not all correct. Eddie also went on to say on record that it didn't mean George would just get 15%. If he knows the promoter can offer 25% why accept 15% regardless of the IBF's purse bid percentages. (It didn't go to purse bids!)
Pea89 Because Groves went to IBF said it was not about money so when Team Froch stick to what is required of IBF which is 15& why would they pay 25%. At end of day Groves could not then turn fight down as he would have been ridiculed so had to accept less dough.
Moog - Eddie said on record immediately after the ruling that Groves still wouldn't just accept 15%. Groves was offered 25% previously and didn't need to accept 15% unless purse bids. Eddie is not just looking out for Team Froch though, he wanted Matchroom to make the biggest fight for years in Britain. I don't think he would be so obtuse to say 15% or **** off George!.. And potentially lose the fight. Who do you think will win the rematch?
This fight is a sell out fight. It should be a war while it lasts, I hope both makes tons of money for taking such punishment.....................Groves just might win the fight, I think it's about 50/50................
Im sure they must of made around £7 million + at the gate SBO - 500k buys - £8.5 million - shared 1/2 by sbo, so prob around 4.5 million their, and other stuff prob about 12 million in the pot £8 million Froch £1.25m - Groves £2m - Matchroom £150k - Undercard
Someone else already told you that had the fight gone to purse bids, 15% would have been the max. It didn't. So it wasn't.
No This is wrong. Hearn did a deal with Groves. It did not go to purse bids. The figure was higher than 15%. Also the options included in the original 25% would have lessened any signing on fees etc. In the longrun it has worked out better for Groves. Just to clarrify. Groves' split for this fight is >15%.
