Money is obviously the big one

Exposure, he gets to fight on Sky box office if need be and also gets shown on box nation

Germans love their boxing, Groves could become a star over there.
Kalle has probably promised to make Groves his biggest star

Potential fights with Abraham, Kessler, Steiglitz. They seem to be able to work with any other promoters where as others like to keep things in house

it was probably the best deal on the table. we don't know how much interest the U.S promoters showed if any.

I don't think a lot of the matchroom fighters get a long with George, especially after the froch fight. Eddie has made his bias apparent in the build up to this fight which obviously makes it more difficult for George to have trust in his promoter.

There was little to no chance of him going back to Frank with the quality of shows he's putting on at the moment.

Sauerland open the doors to U.K shows with the likes of david price on the card, fights with Abraham and Kessler which are big money fights in the U.K or Germany.

1st Point - Must of been a big wod of cash wavered infront of him

2nd Point - If he is under Saunderland banner, everyone is accessible (whether it be Goldenboy fighters, Matchroom/ Queensbury, Toprank) whoever.. as Saunderland will work with just about anyone

3rd Point - Opens up another title in the WBO one with Abraham, natural fight that will take place win/lose against Froch

Good choice IMO from Groves, only point would be if he loses relevance since fighting abroad all the time...

It also protects him from any shoddy treatment in the run up to the fight.

Sauerland's and Matchroom have good relationships which Eddie wouldn't want to ruin and Sauerland have clout with the governing bodies so won't be pushed around.

Plus, they've got Price on the books too, so don't be surprised to see Sauerland shows in the UK too now.

Khan was a Olympic Silver Medalist which put him straight in the limelight and made him a superstar overnight..

    Groves isn't Khan...

Groves could fight Abraham, Kessler, Ward and win all three away from home.. and still wouldn't be on par with Khan's popularity..

What i'm saying is David Price has gone to fight abroad to get out of the limelight, I feel the same could happen to Groves

Hearn already has Froch, nearing end of his career, DeGale, peak of his career, and Callum Smith, who is an amazing prospect and likely to take the majority of Hearns resources at Super Middle, so tbh, it wouldn't surprise me if Hearns offer wasn't all that great. This way, Groves, sets himself up for fights with Kessler or Abraham if he wins and Stigleitz, Oosthuzien or Bika if he loses, and the the big domestic showdowns will still happen down the line, and possibly still on Sky PPV if it makes sense. Kalle has spent a lot of his life in London and knows Groves and the English boxing scene very well. Also staying in Europe for the time being keeps him away from Ward, which is a fight no one wants for so many reasons.

    sums it up

He wont be fighting in Germany - no way they will want to lose the fan base he has built up here.

Although Id love a european away day if he was going to fight Abraham etc in Germany

That said, would Groves pull in a decent size crowd for anything other than Froch or Degale?
