I do agree that some fighters to get pushed and steered in certain directions which often draws hype, rankings and opportunities that perhaps they don't deserve based on what they've done. That said, I do think Fury has every right to be where he is. He's only 25 years old which in HW terms, is very young. Only 22 fights under his belt and holds wins over Chisora, Kevin Johnson and Cunningham (yes Cunningham's a CW blah blah blah, but let's not forget prior to Fury a lot of people felt he should have been given the verdict against Adamek). So far that's not too shabby - compare his record to Deontay Wilder (a guy who is 3 years older, made his debut a month earlier than Fury did and has had 9 more fights) and you can clearly see who's been matched tougher. He wanted the Haye fight, but that went tits up on him twice. He's now got Chisora again who is coming off the back of a solid 12 months, if he wins that then he's more deserving of a shot than most others who have been getting them in recent years. I hope Tyson carves out a good career for himself and does win a world title, he's a character in a division that's gone very bland for a number of years & he can fight.
Brook, easy. When he retires he's going to look back at the career Khan has had and have a little cry.
Weakest division?? Try strongest pencil dick. Why bother coming on a forum when you clearly know nothing about boxing?!
as soon as Fury fights a man his own size that can punch he's finished and even a TRUE Top HW that's smaller who also can punch. age has little to do with it, in bygone days TOP men were as young as 18 and 19. it's down to FIGHTING Often at top levels, times multiple fights over approx. 5 years give or take to get you the experience and EARNED talent to TRULY be AMONG the TOP. I like Fury the person, but Fury the Boxer in TRUE TOP Boxing terms is 3rd rate!
Mayweather - World level fighter, no doubt about it Pacquiao - One of the all time greats. Now completely shot. Khan - A C-Level bum. Bradley - B-Level fighter. Exposed by a shot Pacquiao, gifted a decision against Prov. JMM - Shot Maidana - LOL, he's a borderline journeyman Thurman - Decent prospect but overhyped Porter - I do like him. He's pretty good. Probably the 2nd best in the division. Alexander - C-Level. Next. Rios - LMFAO. He's a joke. D-Level fighter. Alvarado - Bum. He's nothing more than a journeyman. Let's look at the other Welterweights. Brook; a hypejob who has beaten nobody. Paulie, a feather-fisted C-Level fighter who was schooled by fellow C-Level fighter Amir Khan. Adrien Broner, a hypejob exposed by borderline journeyman Maidana. Hence, it is a WEAK division. It seems to be only dumb Ameritards who think otherwise because it's the only division they still dominate. Well, that and the baby Middleweight division but nobody cares about that.
Of course age has something to do with - a fighter will reach a certain age range where they are at there physical peak, have the necessary experience behind them etc. Those bygone days you talk about where TOP men were as young as 18 or 19... fighters at that age who where the top dogs only come round every so often, the likes of Tyson and Benitez are a rarity. You look at the heavyweight division and also look back especially in the last 20 or so years a lot of the guys who have had success have been 30-35 years old. Take that into consideration for Fury and he still has a few years before in theory he'll be at his best. All a matter of opinion + if's and but's though, like I said before I hope Fury does make a good career for himself and grabs a world title. Whether he does or not, we'll find out over the next few years.
So you disagree? You actually think Khan and Rios are elite, world level fighters? Go back to watching WWE, son.
I never commented on the fighters, I commented on your trolling.....and its weak. So weak I think you could probably write articles for for the main site and could probably hold your own in the general forum. And for the record I do believe Amir is elite level.
