Yeah, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Froch gets dropped in preparation for every big fight. I mean, the big fight is when he's at his sharpest and he still leads with his face.

I think Froch is an amazing fighter, for him to build such a good record against good fighters .... while having such an awful defence. He must have something.

Yup i don't believe in the it's only sparring term

I remember prior to khan vs Garcia there was a clip on 24/7 of khan sparring with some prospect in the wildcard, Roach was in the Philippines with manny and Kahn was getting hit hard repeatidle with big left hooks.....I was amazed

And bang come fight night we all know what happened...

However Froch getting put down with big gloves and head guard?

If true that would make u wonder if the last fight took some of his punch resistance away

this is it though isn't it? The ginga was landing in the first fight, didn't do much good in the end. Just gassed himself out and let the Cobra beat him silly.

He's an utter melt, there's a bit in the 8th round when the ginga coward literally RUNS into the corner.

He's going to get the hiding of his life on Saturday and i cannot wait.

Don't know why people are looking into this stuff to much ,, EVERY and i mean EVERY trainer , will be able to tell you , about the guy they had who looked like he was world title material , in sparring , but could'nt do it on the night .

They will also tell you about the guys who could'nt shine in sparring , but could turn it on when the fight came round .

Its only a spar , would'nt read into it to much , In front of 80.000 people and a few milllion watching over the world , I suspect its gonna be a totally different , Froch in that ring , THAN WHAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT OF SEEN IN SPARRING , AND THAT GOES FOR gROVES TOO

I dont agree with "its only a spar" comment.

I bet if you asked 100 fighters would they rather get dropped in sparring or not, 99.9% of them would say NOT!!

I know where you're coming from, its not the be all and end all. But it would set alarm bells ringing if you ask me.

Sparring DOES matter, else why do it? What you see in sparring is as close to what you will see in a fight as you can get.

The notion that a fighter like Froch and a trainer like Rob McCracken would not be concerned at getting dropped in sparring, or being dominated, is nonsense. The modern day approach to sparring is to go full out. Gym wars are in vogue, on the basis that you have to replicate the intensity of a fight to be ready to fight.

If it came close to the start of the camp, then that might not be so bad as it would have allowed Froch to rectify things as he got into his groove. But if it happened close to the end of the camp then this is a big problem for him, psychologically as well as physically.

I personally have never come across a fighter who looked bad or even average in sparring but great in the ring on fight night. Never.

I can remember Nigel Benn once saying that he never could work out what to do in sparring- whether to go all out (and likely injure people) or take it easy. Froch might have been taking it easy on Eubank.
