Groves could win this easily just by out boxing him using his speed, moving around. But what makes this fight so great, you know there will be a tear up.
NO one can say with any certainty whos going to win its a true 50-50 fight George has to work hard to keep Carl off him if he doesn't Froch will be walking him down and belting him sold hard shots. SO Groves punch out has to be high which is part of the perceived problem - can he do that 12 rounds? he couldn't in fight 1. George can box but he isnt in the real slick category that gives Froch problems ala ward it was more his hand speed and power that caused the problems. He cant do what he did against De Gale and pot shot because eventually he will tire and get caught and - it happened against De Gale and will happen again. So again Groves needs volume which i suspect he cant maintain. If George can put Carl down early again he needs to finish him - if Froch is in the fight come the later rounds I can see Groves unravelling again and another Froch stoppage. If Carls chin finally fails him tho goves wins. BUT Froch is a double hard SOB. One of the toughest to enter a british ring. Groves might struggle with the weight and i can see another war where Froch hammers GG to defeat with probably another ref intervention - tho lets hope its a justified one this time
The deciding factor is George groves was wobbled badly by James de gale. WOBBLED BY JAMES DE GALE! He cannot take a shot, becomes completely disorganised, turns away, legs buckle, arms go limp. He could go at anytime.
This is it for me. People are concentrating on his lack of stamina ( don't get me wrong, this IS a massive problem) but his biggest flaw is that he's a total melt. He's a bit of a coward if we're honest.
The big PR machine's succeeded in selling this fight as something it isn't, ie. a close fight. The same thing will happen as happened before. Froch will win.
HUH? why am i getting deja vu reading this post. Same crap about a 'mismatch' was spouted by quite a few assholes on here last time around and they got shat on for their idiocy. Did you not watch the last fight?
Groves will win if he can pick his spots, focusing on putting as much as possible behind 2 and 3 shots at a time. If he chooses to go at Froch a la Hagler-Hearns, he will be willingly dragging himself into a firefight he cannot win. For me, Groves will opt for a more defensive strategy this time. The Hagler-Hearns talk is mere bluster. This will, however, only invite Froch on. I expect Groves to be in front, but a typically resurgent late rounds finish will see Froch stop him around rounds 10-11. That is if Froch is the same Froch we all know from years past.
Meh. Well it's boxing and anything can happen I suppose. But the way I see it let's be honest it's really only a few fanlads and plants expecting Culkin to win. No Froch homo.
If the stamina problem Groves had has been sorted from what i read on here, the other things why i think froch will get him in the later rounds is groves chin is not the best when he gets hit clean he does go to pieces
What so "It's boxing and anything can happen I suppose" explained the sustained beating Groves inflicted on Froch the first time out? Cmon, I hope you are smarter than that. Groves has certain significant advantages that gives him the edge over Carl. Similarly Carl also has some, if fewer things going for him. This is why it's a close fight. You and I guess most people backing Froch are banking on Groves fading down the stretch. Most people will tell you that is not a winning strategy over the long term as you are relying on your opponent slipping up instead of just flat out being the better man. What happens if Groves conditioning is improved to the point where he can function in the later rounds? Conditioning can after all be improved upon. Things like power, speed, technique are much harder to improve...
