If I was to hazard a guess I'd say its because he's been keeping his left arm a lot higher in training and sparring so its going through some unfamiliar pain in the course of recovery. Froch's always kept his left low and got tagged for fun because of it last time so it was obviously going to be something he addressed.
good observation. froch would need to make some adjustments here. its well worth keeping your left high in this fight, even if its not your natural style. and ye the trajectory of the punches thrown could definitely gave him a sprain.
I think of the improvements Froch can actually make, the higher left is a given. His feet, his speed and his timing would be a lot harder to improve at this stage in his career
Well if he's in the habit of holding his left hand low which he has done as an amateur + pro so say the last 15 - 20 years, it would be hard to break the habit!
Groves will demonstrate this perfectly on Saturday night. For all the talk about how he's going to do this and that for 12 rounds, he hasn't factored in the point that he WILL be hit and he will be hurt. He might be able to do 12 rounds in easy fights where he's not getting hit, but his conditioning will only go so far to helping him when he gets tagged and starts turning his back and getting marked up. The interesting thing with this fight is how he willl react when that happens again. We know Froch can walk through a lot of punishment - and as long as his chin is still there, and his ability to soak up punishment is still there, then Groves still has that question to answer.
possibly mind games just like groves has said he wil ko froch with left hand.. even though everyone knows he dropped froch with the right so maybe he wants froch to be wary of the left so he can slip int he right again
