Why is steroid abuse swept under the carpet? It is an absolute disgrace.

What sports are we talking about? Possibly helps NFL players, weightlifters, road cyclists. Boxers... hell no.
FYI there is no scientific evidence for any of the substances we are talking about to improve performance, and the banned list isn't based on any science. It's all guess work and theory. Athletes take them due to cultural reasons, and personal anecdotes. Any effect is most likely to be a placebo.
The list is based on effects seen in clinical populations, and there is a very big difference between a normal healthy person and the clinical population, never mind the clinical population and elite athletes.

I don't dispute you know your ****, I just don't agree with the theory. mainly because there's ample evidence of fighters taking it and being freakish, Shane Mosley in particular.

What are you talking about? There is plenty of evidence of how drugs work in athletes go and look at some of the east German records for proof of this. There are also several studies which show that although boxers aren't the strongest or have the best endurance they are incredible ALL ROUND athletes and that v02max and strength are very important in boxing. Agree with the weight limit points, but then again many boxers move up in weight during their career.
Drugs increase strength, stamina and aggression to a far greater extent than supplements or diet, thats why athletes take them, not due to 'cultural reasons'.

Sport has been built on performance enhancers and the two go hand in hand. Modern PED's of some shape and form have been used by elite athletes since the late 1800's. Like it or not, non-doped athletes are in the minority and it has been the case for over a hundred years.

Any athlete who competes at an elite level in a sport where the difference between winning and losing is MILLIONS will use any advantage to win.

It's only the naive and foolish who chose to believe otherwise about their personal heroes.

something of a paradox to call a cheat a hero.

heroism is something pure and unfettled that inspires you to put work in like your hero, otherwise its not really an inspiration to work hard/achieve.

    but yeah, **** isn't it.

East Germany was about the females, and of course steroids are going to have significant effect on them as they don't produce testosterone anywhere near the level of men. It's like giving a guy with his testicles cut off exogenous testosterone, of course it's going to significantly improve everything as you're basically turning a woman into a man.
The scientific research on elite boxers show that their VO2max is 55-65 ml/kg/min, which is nothing special and achievable by anyone. Top cyclists and cross country skiers are at 85-95 ml/kg/min. The fact that boxers are all round athletes is my point, they are not pushing the limits of anything so the .02% achieved by taking things that may improve a certain physiological capability have no effect on performance.
Show me one bit of research backing your claims on strength, stamina and aggression in elite athletes. You can't, I work for a professional sporting team and I'm very familiar with the literature. There is also plenty of research supporting ergogenic aids like caffeine and creatine in athletes. Athletes take banned substances for many reasons, 'because they work' isn't one of them. The fact that completely uneducated and unqualified characters like Conte are the ones shouting about them should tell people something.

It's the uneducated, untalented and easily brainwashed who think everyone is doing it.

    Because nobody cares.

Fans prefers to think there aren't peds in the sport. The 98% of the peoples are absolutely certain there aren't peds in sports, unless you are caught.

And they become totally mad when you show them the PROOFS that ALL the professional sportsmen are on gear.
It's because they don't like to think about it.

So, to hell all those ******s. Peds don't exist? Ok, then, peds don't exist! But don't become an hypocrite and scream against the few fools that get caught because their teams screw up something or because of opponent's traps.

I would like to kick in the face everyone denying the use of peds without even knowing what they are talking about.
