Froch's punching power or Groves weak chin?

Froch is not an explosive puncher, but he's very heavy-handed. He doesn't score many one-punch KOs because his big shots are generally slow and predictable.

 

I think if Froch landed that punch under the same circumstances on any fighter at 168 they wouldn't have took it.

It was just one of those things, a great punch and whilst it looked like GG was out he still got to his feet which must be commended.

Groves chin is sound enough and he's took some good flush shots off Froch who is heavy handed, over the last two fights to prove he isn't china chinned.

 

You can't call Groves chinny on the basis of that shot.

Froch can punch and he took a flush right hand right on the button.

Bingo shot, game over.

 

The real question is what top fighters would have got caught with that shot??

 

It was great the way Froch set that shot up though. He fainted with the left, seen Groves slightly move his right hand up to defend but seen his left didn't move... he then properly threw the left hand, Groves once again brought the right up to defend, the left hand stayed down and Froch came through with the money shot.

 

Not quite, I can't even watch that punch without bracing myself. Horrific! Thank god Hatton hadn't had six rounds of being beat up before that landed.

Groves took plenty of excellent punches in these two fights, came off best in most exchanges. I don't think his chin is bad at all.


Degale, redemption because he watched his superior rival being knocked out by someone who at his best could fight both of them on the same night? That's as good as it gets eh Chunky? Fighting on Groves' undercard, beating an unprepared yank. Sad bast*rd and I hope Groves gets him next.
