Groves has a big future ahead of him, as the years go on having Groves on his record will look better and better.

 

Kind of what I expected to see. Grove was gassing later in the first fight and history repeated itself.
Grove just didn't have much of a resume to even be a threat to Froch.

 

It was nothing short of a fantastic victory, and one which definitely enhances his record.

The people who come on here to immediately degrade his victory over Groves are the same people who slam him for his "hesitancy" to accept a rematch. The fact of the matter is the 1st fight was an absolute thriller and immediately established Groves as a world class competitor. After the controversial ending, Froch didn't seem too interested in taking a rematch, seemingly looking to opt for an easier alternative opponent who he'd have an easier night with and earn similar money. The public outright DEMANDED that Froch give Groves the rematch and, unlike any other boxer alive right now, Froch listened and gave the public what they wanted (as he always does).

Coming into the fight, Froch was the SLIGHT betting favorite, meaning those in the industry who actually know something about boxing, quantitatively valued Groves as a world class competitor by offering slim odds on a Groves victory. Other than Ward, I highly doubt bookmakers would have offered tighter odds against Froch for any other competitor. Those of you saying GGG would have been the more proven/more appropriate for opponent for Froch need a reality check. Groves' victories over Degale and Johnson outweigh anything GGG has done up to date, not to mention the fact that GGG would be having to step up to the supremely conditioned weight class of 168....

I'm not on here to rim Froch or slander GGG at all but you need to give credit where credit is due. Fans would have been OUTRAGED if Froch took any other fight (including against Ward), Froch yielded to public demand and absolutely did the business....

Ward will probably be the best SMW in the world for as long as he's around but Froch is the draw who everybody wants - the guy who gives the public the fights they want to see time and time again - hence why Ward and the rest of the MW/SMW divisions are chasing him.

Enjoy him while he's around because amidst all the common bull**** we get in boxing, Froch is a breath of fresh air; a true "peoples champion."

 

It depends on what Groves does from this point forward. If he beats Abraham for the WBO belt at 168 lbs. and defends it, then they are quality wins. If he gets his head knocked off by Abraham, then these 2 fights for Froch were overhyped domestic events.
