If the fighter thinks he can't continue, you go to the score cards. Sure the timing was shady but nothing illegal. I have the utmost respect for Donaire for the way he acted. He felt bad and apologized to the crowd and to his opponent. He knows that's not how he wanted to win. And if he gives the rematch, I will respect him even more.

Looked like a headbutt, an elbow, and a grazing punch. But NONE of them landed hard enough to cause a cut lol didn't look intentional either.

I have respect for him for how he acted after, but I think the stoppage was intentional. I think he took the easy way out because he didn't want to fight with that cut. Sorry way to win a title though.

First, I did not conclusively see a head-butt. The announcers however immediately concluded head-butt without any conclusive video evidence.
Second, Donaire could somehow at will stop the fight in mid-round, so the Doc could look at his cuts?
third, Donaire seemed to be bitching and looking for a way out.
four, as soon as he got the knockdown they let the rd end and stopped the fight.
Shady shenanigans all the way. the outcome was contrived and total BS.

I agree. HBO and Top Rank are trying to rebuild him, they won't let him get ruined.

Speaking of getting ruined, did you see what happened to Vic Darchinyan? Time for him to get out. Brutal.

He definitely didn't want to continue cause he couldn't see out of his lead eye. I can't blame him for it. It was a bad cut which would've opened wider and wider after every round. I would've been hard on him if it wasn't for the way he conducted himself after the fight.

Donaire would have won by knockout anyway, plus Donaire wants a rematch. Donaire had a very crooked, criminal cheater using his head and elbows, but Donaire put him down and could have won by knockout with one eye...............if the rematch, Donaire will win by knockout..............

Vetyeka is not an innocent young man in that fight. Saw him throw low blows, leaning with his head and so on.

Donaire was a primadonna. However he had the kind of cut that ends fights anywhere in the world because it's right on the eye lid.

It probably could of gone 2 or 3 more rounds more and stopped anyway.

A NC would have been a more just conclusion.

Oh well, this is boxing and **** happens. On to the rematch.

Here's what I don't get. If his eye is so bad why not stop the fight during one of the rounds, instead of in between rounds when it's at it's cleanest? He asked for the stoppage when it was convenient for him. And the fact that he basically stopped the fight is laughable.

Even his conscience was bothering him. That's why he was offering a rematch and could barely look at the interviewer. He forgot which eye was cut so he was closing both.

It was ridiculous bro. I'm sure the eye was bothering him, horrible spot, but come on. You just put the guy on his ass the previous round. He seized the opportunity to stop it and even insinuated he asked for it to be stopped in the interview. Even after he knocked vetyeka down the ref had the doctor clean his eye, wasnt it bad enough to stop it then?Of course not, the round had to end so it could be scored. Total joke.

I don't even dispute he would have won, I just don't like how it went down. Very unprofessional and biased for bobs guy.
