Their biggest competitor, who aligned pretty much exclusively with one promotional entity, is now heavily impacted by the GBP implosion. It's quite likely that the GBP stables will start to split, and there will be another "cold war" between Haymon and Golden Boy. HBO loses nothing from this fallout, and if anything potentially gains business back from either one or both factions.

Although they'll likely stick heavily to their mantra of refusing to let Haymon dictate to them. Big Daddy Al better hope that Showtime extends him an olive branch, because if not, his fighters are totally phucked as far as generating any exposure is concerned.

Why am I not surprised that a guy with the username GhettoWizard doesn't understand the implications of this GBP rift?

You don't have any inside information either, so I doubt you know or understand the implications either.

You really think HBO isn't having a good laugh at all of this? They're the real winners in all of this clusterphuck.

I'd say HBO are glad Floyd left anyway seen as 2 of his 3 fights on Showtime have bombed and theirs nothing that can be made to reach anything near Canelo numbers so Showtime will probably loose on at least another 1 maybe 2 of Floyds remaining fights.

He's had 4 million buys since he left. Double what their entire roster did in the meantime.

All based on the Canelo fight really the fact is 2 of the 3 fights failed from Showtimes point of view, and nothing out there will bring those Canelo numbers in again so theirs a good chance the fight in September fails as well Showtime won't be happy with that and what's to say all the remaining fights won't fail if they did no way could that deal be called a success for Showtime.

4 million PPV buys in 3 fights, I see no reason why Showtime wouldn't be happy with their investment

Add up the numbers and you will understand that Showtime are spinning their wheels at best.HBO still have 10 million more subscribers and the bosses at Show(CBS) are not overly impressed with Showtimes investment.
HBO made the prudent decision and while they perhaps are not laughing, they are at the very least smiling.
