The deal with Floyd was always likely to be a loss-leader. If Showtime break even on it, they'll be delighted. Showtime weren't on the boxing map before Floyd moved there - that was the entire purpose of him doing so. 3 years of Floyd fights to build to, whilst they also build their off-PPV cards and try to catch HBO in the long-run.

HBO doesn't care about boxing anymore. Meaning they don't put a lot of stock into boxing or it's ppvs anymore like they used to.

    The question is do you?

I Love when people state facts and figures for break even points, when in reality they are getting their information from some other jerk posting from his bedroom.

I would take a guess that they are turning over a decent profit.

I know as much as the guy above that apprently has all the financial breadowns, but Floyd IMO has done pretty good nubmers IMO.

And the Maidana Rematch should be higher than before IMO.

Floyd by himself was getting $32 million from Showtime regardless of how well the PPV did. Maidana's public announced figure was $1.5 million.

Let's say the Maidana fight did 900000 buys. Everything I've read from Yahoo Sports, Sports Illustrated, Maxboxing, ESPN was in the 800s up to 900. PPV cost $70 for a person to buy. Of this $70, half of it goes to the cable and satellite providers. That is standard industry practice for all PPV events. So of the 900000 buys, Showtime get $35 per buy. 900000 buys multiplied by $35 per buy comes out to $31.5 million. That's Showtime's income from PPV buys.

The $33.5 million combined for Mayweather and Maidana does not account for further expenses. Khan got $1.5 million. Collazo got $350k. Broner got $1.25 million. Molina got $150k. J'Leon Love got $100k and his opponent got $35000. So before we account for Showtime's production costs, not only for fight night but also the buildup series they did, we're at $36,835,000 in expenses. Showtime does not get any of the live gate income. That's the promoter's. They probably made a little income from advertising.

But based on known numbers, we can say with 95% confidence that Showtime's balance sheet for the event is they're $5,335,000 in the hole plus production costs minus advertising income.
