Joshua v skelton

Like he said after his last fight, he needs to get experience he hasn't been passed 2 rounds. He needs to get rounds under his belt to stand him in good stead further down the line.

 

At least it's the best he'll have faced yet, not saying much but it's not bad. Needs someone durable, unfortunately our decent domestic heavies like Dallas, McDermott & Sprott aren't very durable against someone with Joshua's power IMO

Everyone should have to fight Page before they move up.

If boxing were a computer game, Page would be the boss of level one.
Kevin Johnson the boss of level 2 and Tony Thompson the boss of the level just before you take on the big boss.

 

What would be wrong with someone like McDermott?

 

Thing that gets me about this bull**** is the talk of fighters "pricing themselves out" of fights.

If you're the promote of Joshua or Hughie Fury (didn't they lose the Skelton fight over £1,000?) surely losing a small amount of money in the beginning is fine given the expected returns later on down the line?

Get your ****ing wallets out and get these lads proper fights.

 

It might be a step up but Skelton is hardly anywhere near even his half best . Joshua KO 3 at the longest

I'd stay away from Thompson unless you have to face him. As for Skelton, Joshua should easily deal with him and the fight would likely over early. Danny Hughes looked durable against Hughie Fury- I'd put him in with Joshua next and then Sprott this Autumn.

It's interesting to see that the British heavyweights seem to see Joshua as having a target on his head.

 

Agree and can see why the likes of Hearn and other promoters want to get there young stars packed records in order to make them look that bit better on paper + a few stand out performances or big KO's increases there following & therefore ticket sales...... but putting your fighters in with people they'll blow away time and time again learning literally nothing from it, only jeopardises them in the future.

When the Skelton fight is done and over with, Joshua needs to be getting in with durable guys that will work him and make him think.

He doesn't need to be rushed, anything from it. Plenty of years ahead of him, but he needs fights that he'll learn from so that when he does make the step up he's ready.

Look at Price for example. Was blowing everyone away within 2 or so rounds, then when he fought Thompson he was stepped up to early in hindsight and wasn't prepared as the gap in class was to much of a jump.

 

All fights so far have been a waste of time for AJ and Skelton is no different.

AJ should be aspiring to win the World Title against Wlad as there is little recognition winning it against a Manuel Charr type and defending it against bums like Haye.

If he wants to become a British legend by winning the world title against Wlad, he needs to progress quickly over the next 18 months.

I would stick him in against Hughie Fury next, followed by fringe journeyman Chisora, then Tyson Fury and finally clean up the domestic scene by taking out the Toemaker.

Then fight for and defend the European title then on to Wlad.

Chisora was down to fight Wlad after 13 fights so AJ should be able to cope with this path if he is as good as the post fight hype suggests.
