Geez, Bernard likes to hold. I have had enough of it. His fights are simply too boring. Interesting and tactical, but not what I'd call action-packed. Bernard is a master at making people fight his fight, but his fight sucks.
From a British guy: Real close fight. I thought Calzaghe just won by a point or two. Could have gone either way. The 116-111 was bull****. Props to both: Bernard for his amazing skills. Calzaghe for heart and perseverence.
If Hopkins didn't score the KD, not even his tightest ballhuggers could say he won. I had him winning two rounds. He held and hit all night, looked worse than Rivaldo faking low blows, and rolled along the ropes looking to land ONE punch. Fine he caught him good in the first but you gotta bring more than that to beat Calzaghe. He didn't push the action in the 12th when for all he knew the fight was won or lost in those 3 minutes. There would have been no action in this fight (seen Winky-Hopkins??) if not for Calzaghe, I don't remember Hopkins initiating one exchange aside from when he was holding onto Joe's arm.
Well done to Joe. I agree the fight was close and I wouldn't have been surprised had it gone either way. Hopkins made Joe look average tonight.
B-HOP clearly won the fight even at 43 years old and took Calzaghe took school. The only mistake he made was not stopping Calzaghe after hurting hm several times. An old school fighter. Another Vegas decision.
