I hope everyone's complaints are for those people actually scoring it for Hopkins.

Cause people that are disappointed in others scoring a close fight (that ended up a SD) to Calzaghe, are themselves, a bit ****ed up.

    IMO.

Calzaghe obviously won, Hopkins did his best John Ruiz impersonation to try to get more points deducted. Pathetic

If Wlad or any Euro had held as much as Hopkins did, a bunch of people would be on here crying about how no points were deducted. Hopkins got outhustled, outlanded, out though, and outboxed

    119-109 to Calzaghe.

Compubox will back me up (I assume so anyway, yet to see the numbers).

I suppose with the swing rounds going to Calzaghe I could see that score. There were five rounds that were extreemly difficult to score.

I agree.....how Hopkins can say he schooled him is beyond me.....he caught him with a monstrous right hand in the first but never did enough after....simple as that......hs low blow tactics were disgraceful, ****ing drama queen

I felt Calzaghe won, simply because he was outlanding Hopkins and controlling the later half of the fight. At the end of the day, I don't feel Hopkins early round assault and periodic spurts of energy were enough.

It was very close, I thought it was pretty good, and I wouldn't mind a rematch.

Hopkins' only chance was to hold and pot shot. He couldn't go toe to toe with Joe. Calzaghe landed more, was the busier fighter, pressed the action, and threw more. JC won.

Birts make me hate Joe. Their vomit inducing blindness.

Props to Hopkins for executing his game plan. Unfortunately, though, his gameplan wasn't enough. He just didn't throw enough punches, and landed very few clean shots the longer the fight went. When you don't throw that much to start with, you can't afford not to have "wow" punches connect throughout.

From an aesthetic standpoint, it wasn't pretty seeing one punch while lunging in with his head down 100 times. As the fight went on and Joe got his timing down, it wasn't that effective, either. Combine that with Joe landing more and landing the clearer shots, and he just piled up rounds.

Also, it looks like Joe might have injured his hands. Either that, or he took a couple of stupid pills this morning because Hopkins was wide open for the uppercut literally dozens of times, and Calzaghe never pulled the trigger on it.

Either way, Calzaghe did enough to win in an ugly, yet entertaining (as much as it could be realistically) decision.

Edit: Also, it was very interesting to see Joe beating Hopkins at his own game. Bernard relishes playing the bully role and breaking his opponent's will, and by the end, he actually was the one backing down and complaining. I don't think I've ever seen Hopkins ***** to the ref about the other guy being too rough/dirty before.
