Nah, I chose to roll with the Schwerin card instead figuring they would overlap. (plus my free time for boxing is limited to however long a nap Lil Butt takes, so I don't have the luxury of planning to watch a whole lot until the big PPV tonight which starts after bedtime)

Easy decision; I have been a longtime Brähmer follower and didn't really see much value in the Newcastle card. Piispanen is decent but probably not quite good enough to expose any flaws in Saunders or make it more than marginally competitive. Hall, although my hat's off to him living his dream and everything, is a bit of a paper titlist making an uninteresting defense over a domestic prospect. Even if there is an upset, it hardly shakes up the global scene at bantam. The brightest spot on the card was Dickinson vs. McKenzie, which had the potential to be very boring if Dickinson was able to impose his style. I'm very glad to hear Ovill got him, though! :bbb

Braekhus and Balogun are halfway into their unified championship rematch.

Almost exactly two years ago, in the first week of June 2012, Braekhus successfully defended the WBO, WBA and WBC welterweight belts with a unanimous decision over the spirited Balogun. That was her third defense of all three unified belts; here going for her eighth.

 

The unofficial scorecard of the commentator for TyC Sports has a 50-45 clean sweep for Braekhus thus far.

 

Through eight completed, the unofficial scorecard of the commentators now reads 80-72 Braekhus.

Fairly straightforward and idiosyncratic action; the scoring looks about right.

Balogun is applying pressure, walking Braekhus down with a high guard and exploding with straight flurries up close - but too much effective movement from the champion, and her jab-and-grab tactic on the inside has nullified most of the exchanges as soon as Balogun is able to force them.

 

All over, the commentators have it a shutout.

I've never thought Brähmer was unbeatable, just really skillful - although it would, I would imagine, take quite a lot to stop him.

Yes, of course EM does have game-changing power in both hands, but aggressively looking to KO a patient ring general and decent-hitting (though, you're right, not thunderous) counter-puncher in Brähmer seems like it will always be a stylistic trapdoor for Enzo.
