Sad to watch he has to retire from this. Dude has not been the same since the start of round 12 of 2012-09-15 Vs Chavez Cotto has a great win but he would never have beat Sergio at his best not even close Sad seeing this tonight Hard to see a dude that was once a A+ fighter get destroyed Father time catches everyone
It was pretty upsetting. Martinez is a real warrior and it's a shame to see him go out like that, but it could have been much, much worse. I hope he calls it quits after tonight. There's no coming back from that at his age with the wear and tear on his body.
Age is a *****, Sergio is almost 40....nothing about this loss is surprising to those of us who live in reality.
Sad indeed. But i can't believe he didn't know about how bad his condition was. He was probably planning on cashing out, and in that, ggg would have brought less views and a worst beating.
hes 39 and unfortunately people with his speed/reflex based style rarely go out pretty. He needs to retire because he clearly has serious knee problems and needs to use them for the rest of his life. Very upsetting loss but the writting was on the wall. even in interviews Martinez would never admit he wasn't hurt and would respond with things like "my desire for glory is greater than pain..", He knew he was ****ed up
Very sad. Was a very good middleweight champion though! Congrats Sergio on a great career after turning pro so late.
