He looked like a guy who needed a walker out there, Martinez even 2 years ago would win every moment of every round with Cotto.

Let's be honest here... with a bad knee he still fought vs. Julio and Murray and lasted 12 rounds.

PLUS: His chin has no tears or surgeries.... it was a left hook to the CHIN not the KNEE that put Martinez down 3 times in the 1st round.

His knees weren't as bad then, did have surgeries on both knees? He threw a punch and started falling because he couldn't keep his balance.

Like I said in another thread, I actually felt sorry for him. In the past I referred to him as a 'cripple', but I didn't think he was an actual cripple.

He looked like he was wearing roller skates on an ice rink. There is no way he can make it to the end of his life on those legs.

I doubt he did roadwork at all. I remember other posters saying he looked flabby around the middle on those HBO pre-fight specials. I didn't take much notice, but it makes sense now. Martinez is a workhorse and it would be uncharacteristic of him to lazily ignore training. My guess is he can't run anymore. The guy is has big problems.

I was watched Martinez right leg and he was not bending the right knee at all, I think he might have torn his right knee up again. He needs to retire because with another surgery he might never walk if this keeps happening.

Wasn't he a professional cyclist? Does biking place your knees under a lot of strain?

Nowhere near as much as running does.

He looked like BOTH KNEES were bad, but maybe 1 bad knee made him look like that. He was like a guy who had a upper body and feet no legs.

He wasn't as bad and completely done with as he was for this fight and not even close. Add to that Cotto's determination and superb condition and Martinez had no chance in hell.

I would like to know what Sergio's training was like during training camp.

Clearly terrible and this fight was nothing but a farewell payday.

I don't think he had the bad knee vs Chavez Jr. It's possible he injured it in that 12th round.

The left hook was able to connect to the CHIN because he couldn't use his normal footwork to be elusive due to the messed up KNEE.
