It's not just this fight, it's after every fight. No one gets credit for wins anymore without excuses being thrown out. "he's too old" "he was inexperienced" "he had no chin" "he had no power" "fight was at a catch weight" "he's shot"

how many boxers have come out saying pre fight that they arent prepared for the fight? im giving cotto lots of credit, BECAUSE i didnt think he was big enough or durable enough to pull it off. i knew sergio was done at elite level so im not surprised cotto was able to find him, im just surprised cotto looked so strong and sharp, even against a dimished martinez.
I am not a fanboy of neither of the fighter. That win was clear. It was impressive of Cotto to move up that way and beating the champ. But there is a big question mark overtop of that fight. Martinez's corner were telling him that his knee was gone. Martinez had a knee problem, he was 39 and always relied on his athletisim, which was gone. Make that fight few years back and the outcome would've probably be different.
He beat a disabled man who could barely stand on his two legs since round 1. He deserves little credit. Martinez and the media conned us all, this guy never recovered from his injuries
I am a big Cotto fan, but had Martinez winning all day, despite his body breaking down. Still gotta give Cotto credit. Cotto is the MAN at 160. GGG in 2nd.
