Should Sergio Martinez be fined?

boxing is full of shenanigans like this, remember how Margarito's eye was supposedly 100% healed before Margo-Cotto II? the ripoff was even worse this time

Anybody could have beaten this crippled version of Sergio, anybody. This victory means nothing

That's the reason Cotto took the fight, he knew that Martinez was finished, bad knees, hands, etc., now Cotto will refuse to fight Golovkin who would knock him out. Looks as if Golovkin will get to fight Soliman after Geale, he will have the pull to force Cotto to fight him..................

I dont know if Sergio intentionally ripped the fans off or if he was delusional enough to think he could be competitive with Cotto with Lieutenant Dan knees.

No sparring at all? That's nonsense. It was a cashout from the beginning, then. I've lost some respect for Martinez. This is fooling peoples to buy it.

He went in there with no knees under him and just hoped his size would carry him through that's brave . No need to fine him

Speaking of which. I was surprised Martinez wasn't at least 170lbs in the ring tonight.

Nope. Cotto's a pure warrior as was Maravilla - cept I guess Sergio knew he was a long way from 100% last night (genuine question tho - does that reflect well or poorly upon him?).

Do you think Cotto is gonna fight the #1 MW contender tho? Hell I'd give Cotto props if he even faced Kid C or Soliman - but if the lineage that was begun by Hopkins beating Felix Trinidad 13 years ago ends up being decided by a coupla of WWs or JMWs beating off then it has no credibility in my eyes.

If Cotto fights at least one of the top MW contenders however, I'll give him full respect as the warrrior I've always considered him to be. If he fights Golovkin I promise I'll also buy some little PR flags to wave.:D

I like Martinez but he definitely took the fans for a ride. He should have never been allowed to fight. It was a sad spectacle.

Just about every fighter goes into the ring less than 100%, probably thought he could get by but training camp and the fight are totally different

Shame if this is this his last fight, hindsight says he should have retired after the murray fight tho

It would be ridiculous if he fights again.

I can understand the jubilation from Cotto fans, I felt the same when he beat Margarito or when Pac beat DLH. You can justify it in your own mind but in the end you have to be honest with what you see in the ring.
