His knee just couldn't carry on, no shame in losing to Cotto, but he should retire now as a happy man had a great career, he has been the middleweight king for 4 years with a good resume.

All respect to Cotto, but i still think Golovkin slaughters him with ease :bbb

Agreed. Come on Martinez, now that's enough.

I think he should take a farewell fight in Argentina, that is if his knee can still take it, it would be a shame to go out getting dominated in that kind of fashion

Well he looked bad v Murray, so i think it's just best to quit it now.

Easy foe should be picked. Someone though but far far from a contender status. Finish his career in Argentinia with a highlight reel KO and give his fans one last good memory.

I'd definitely quit right now, anyone would have beaten him last night.

He's knees have completely gone and another fight will only harm his future health.

Martinez has nothing left to prove and perhaps, more importantly, he's got nothing left to prove it with. He hasn't made the money he's deserved through the course of his career, but I hope he's earned enough to be comfortable walking away right now. Continuing to fight would be a big mistake.

It's not Cotto beating him that's discouraging, it's how bad Miguel beat him, along with his form already slipping the last few fights.

That's about the only scenario where I wouldn't mind seeing him fight again. Calling up a top 100 guy with shaky whiskers for a hometown sendoff and then call it a day does make some sense.

No shame in calling it quits although personally i think he deserved much more than 1.5 mil, i know Cotto is the bigger draw but for Cotto to get 7 million it seemed bit excessive

You can see he's been declining over the past few fights but last night he was plain awful. Having said that Cotto put in the fight of his life, excellent win.

Martinez has had a great career, 39 years old it's time to call it a day.

He would need to face someone like Jermain Taylor in a freakshow and even then I wouldn't be all that confident in him winning. He has no place in the sport anymore.

:yep It would be a good thing and something that does not happen that often. He can probably still fill out a big venue in Argentina. I actually really want to see that because too many fighters end up loosing bad fights and retiring.
