How much credit do you give Cotto for his win over Martinez?

I'm with you. Anyone with eyes could see that he had nothing in his knees, which meant he was a dead man walking cause everything you do starts with your legs. I knew his knees were gone in the 1st round.

full credit credit to Miguel, and although Martinez was a wreck of a fighter, he still gave it his all despite getting completely dominated, Cotto deserves full props for coming up and winning the lineal MW title in just his 1st fight at the weight!

    Legit win for sure.

The improvements Cotto has made are very obvious. He's very calculated and disciplined and it's serving him well.

But it's also pretty obvious Martinez was old and done as an elite fighter. He was a guy who relied on speed and athleticism and at 39 years old it's obvious those attributes were taken away.

So so. It's not Cotto's fault if Martinez was not 100%. Cotto still performed well

Still sorta shocked at the amount of fans that felt Martinez would blow Cotto out the water knee problems or not. Cotto's ring abilities and boxing IQ can only shine vs a superior athlete who has never fully captured all the nuances the game has. Looking at this in retrospect I should have known this was the classic casual fan set up for those taking bets on the heavily favored MartinezÂ….

I would have given him a lot of credit if Martinez hadn't looked so godawful. Clear case of the old lion getting old, sick, and wounded while still sitting up in the head spot until some smaller lion who would never have even approached him in his prime gets the balls to be like "You know what....I could probably take him."

To put it into perspective, Sam Soliman, Felix Sturm, Daniel Geale, Matthew Macklin, Darren Barker, Martin Murray, Chavez Jr., Gennady Golovkin, Peter Quillin, and Chris Eubank Jr. would each be the middleweight champion right now if they had got there first.

Fact is, a lot of fighters would've beaten Sergio last night. He was clearly a one legged gimp who couldn't put much pressure on his right leg. I don't care how good you are, if one of your legs are gone, you are going to get beat by so many fighters. I just can't give Cotto much credit considering this fact.

I think Cotto should get full credit for taking on a match that most people thought he couldn't win, minus some credit for the catch weight. I would also give him full credit if he had beaten a typical shot opponent, but not with a fighter who came in with a knee injury that was not fully healed. My gosh he beat up Martinez more than he did against Yuri Foreman!

I liked how Cotto didn't rush in to finish Sergio Cotto set his own pace Chavez Sr style and did a masterful performance, outboxing, outsmarting Sergio many times. Cotto never looked overconfident he still respected Sergios power and used the ring very well. Instead of running or moving straight back Cotto us3d great footwork. Pity Sergio was shot, but that wasn't really Cottos fault. Him coming in the ring as challenger first intothe ring t to let Sergio come in as champion one last time was very classy from Cotto.

I chose "very little" but not because of cotto but becsuse martinez should of never fought with a f*cked up knee. I give props to cotto because he stepped up and was ready for a healthy martinez. Its not cottos responsibility to care about martinez's condition. He did what he had to but against a vulnerable martinez.
