Anyone feel bad for Sergio Martinez?

Dude talks way too much trash. Loved seeing him get retired

 

Sergio was my man crush to bad he might never fight again gosh he was ***y even at 40 you guys should of seen him when he was younger.

 

Definitely sad here. The last time I've felt this sad about a fight's result was Pacquiao-Marquez 4.

 

I really wanted Secksy to win and was pulling for him hard. He let me down. Now I'm disappointed and wish he was dead.

 

Nah, hell no. Sergio made no excuses and was talking mad **** on Cotto and his team. Even his trainer was down talking Roach because of the Junior fight. Cotto was humble through out and even took the time to explain his reasoning for fight negotiations. Sergio just under estimated Cotto. Roach and Cotto should have gotten together a lot sooner. Next up is Canelo and Mayweather. With Roach and Gavin, he beats both.

 

Absolutely. I've never felt such a huge gap in happiness for one guy and feeling bad for the other at the end of a fight in my life.

 

I only realised how much of a Martinez fan I actually was last night. Lol. Was rooting for cotto but after seeing the state of Sergio in that first round I couldn't help but switch allegiance.

 

I Don't feel sorry for the man that hogged the middle weight title and fought bums in his last 4-5 fights..

Martinez that fought Williams and pavlik, I would of.

You're right, not everyone IS Floyd. Martinez never ducked a man in his life.

 

I'm sure Sergio will be feeling bad when he's counting his money.

 

Sergio still makes money from his purse, PPV sales and Argentinian sponsors.

This hasn't ruined his legacy (unless you are a ******ed casual fan) because he severely handicapped with his bad knees.

His ego will have suffered as he was embarrased but people deep down know that that was not the REAL Sergio Martinez in there last night so he can take comfort from that.

And listen....he could have been blasted out of there within a few rounds like Freddie Roach said. Instead, he showed spirit and took his beating like a man and carried the fight for 9 long rounds.

Others might have simply pu$$ied out.

 

Broke my heart to see a great proud warrior who has done so much go out like that, took all the joy of seeing Cotto win. I couldn't lose as I favor both but, in the end I felt numb, if Cotto had been dismantled that way I would have felt the same. So really it was a case of no way I could win in this one.

 

You can't help but feel a little sorry for a champion that gets into the ring with no more than 60% mobility in his legs

 

Cotto had Martinez's legs looking like Glass Joe in Tysons Punchout.

 

I'm proud of Sergio's career.

The ending wasn't pretty, but that's usually the cost of doing business in boxing. Most champions do go out just like that; let's not forget, this is essentially what he did to a fading Kelly Pavlik to get the title in the first place.

I'm relieved it was Cotto in there and not GGG, for his health's sake.
