If you can't list enough then don't start a thread. How the hell did Abraham hold the belt hostage when Sturm was the real one holding the belt hostage?. Better yet, how the hell is Wladimir holding the belts hostage when he's fighting everyone available in his awful division?. I was a "punching bag" for someone who can't even start and maintain a virtual thread online?. I'll let you know if I remember you.

None of this belt hostage crap would have happened if it wasn't for the proliferation of boxing federations. Scrap the IBF, WBO, merge the WBA and WBC and have a truly representative committee with a headquarters in a country where tax dodging and corruption is not the norm.

In most divisions nobody can truly say who is the man...it's b/s.

How is Wlad holding the belt hostage?

At any rate, this goes all the way back to the 30s, 40s, and 50s (Robinson Era).

Gus Lesnivich most famously held the LHW title for nearly a decade and avoided most of his top contenders in Bivins, Moore, Charles, and Maxim.

These organisations all have mandatory challengers, if a fighter faces all of his mandatory challengers and beats them then how is he "holding the belt hostage". Wladimir holds all the belts bar the WBC, as far as I know he has never 'ducked' a mandatory, perhaps some have lost while waiting their chance but that's out of his control.

An example of holding the belt hostage is Vitali, who fought so infrequently since his comeback, yet the WBC is implicit and entirely responsible for allowing him to do so...

Actually back in the day old timey boxers did it all the time.

Fighting exhibition/non title bouts and rarely defending their actual titles.

Gentleman Jim Corbett for example went whole years without defending his title.
