Have done some boxing but im thinking of joining mma soon, mainly just to learn new skills and stay fit,no plan on fighting in matches or anything, just wondering what is it like starting out,the job I work I couldnt come in with a busted face, just wondering are the injury levels high?

    Hi Fin,
Obviously in mma the injury level is high but there are techniques which will reduce the risk of injuries so best of luck and yes mma will make you healthy and active.

You're going to have another man trying to twist your joints in directions they were never meant to go.

Does that sound like there is a huge risk of injury?

    It does to me.

The injury risk will obviously be higher than if you chose to play Badmiton competitively, but I still believe you can minimize the injury risk if you choose a good gym. Good gyms will have enough guys so that you'll get matched up ,generally speaking, with someone your size and your experience level...reducing the injury risk in the process. Also, better gyms will have things under control so that sparring sessions don't get out of hand...thus reducing injury risk even further. Good luck.

Best bet to find like minded opponents is the closest Turkish Steam Bath facility in your area.
