for crying out loud, how long do you fans think you can keep playing us with "He stopped Benitez & Duran" despite the fact you already know that the rest of US know the ref stepped in prematurely. I'm not even a Benitez fan, you can ask anyone here, but that stoppage was pure bull**** - all the way, nowhere near legitimate

and Duran? Duran collapsed mentally from the showboat antics of Leonard. Duran took more shots from Leonard in their first fight which Duran WON.

and again, Ezzard Charles has nothing to do with Leonard. he beat Moore, an outstanding title holder, three times

is Tommy hearns an outstanding title holder at his weight for beating Randy where-is-my-punch-when-I-need-one Shields, Pablo I-need-an-emergency top ten ranking Baez, and Luis does-anyone-know-who-I-am Primera?

Leonard wasnt shot when Duran beat him. Hagler was shot when Ray finally called him out so outpointing a lifeless punching bag isnt much of an achievement is it?

sidenote: I'd rank Leonard higher if he had more substantial wins, say a 1982 defense vs Pryor, and taking his title back from prime Donald Curry (1985) but of course, he doesn't so I can't

I like to call it a gift stoppage but please stop using the phrase Leonard stopped Duran N Benitez. let's be truthful for once and stop trying to embellish his career. It just confirms that there wasnt enough there to place him with such a lofty rank. just be grateful that I am giving him third place. Hell, ESB and Leonard fans should be ECSTATIC that I'm giving him third place

 

So he didnt protest. that doesnt change the fact it was premature and one of the worst stoppages (and BORING) title fights of the decade

a real stoppage is what you get when you have Hector Camacho beating on Ray Leonard. Leonard didnt protest either. no, he blamed it on his calf after the fight

 

you mean to tell me you have no concept of what a premature stoppage is and that you didnt realize that referees stop the action and award a tko?

maybe its becuz you're out of ammunition which in that case you go thru life bluffing others, hoping they'll fall for your constant bs

a REAL stoppage neccesitates action on the part of the ref out of genuine concern for a fighter's health, say as in the case of Hector Camacho when he had the much bigger man (Leonard) on the ropes and had him geuinely hurting and ready for bedtime

no such case exists for Benitez, at least not in the Leonard fight but in the Hilton fight, HELL YEAH! Now THAT'S a stoppage
