Golovkin would easily knock Quillin out, but Quillin flat out refuses to fight fight Golovkin. Golovkin is the best middleweight it the world today............

Won't happen, doesn't have to though tbh as another poster has already said anyone who knows boxing knows who wins this easily.

C'mon - give the Orishaman a chance - yeah, I believe GGG destroys Quillin, but what have we got at 160 in terms of titlists and contenders?

Maravilla is quite obviously shot to hell - (and with sincere apologies to Martin Murray I have been subsequently re-evaluating his performance against Sergio in the light of both of their more recent fights).

Barkers gone, Macklin never was a titlist - and apparently became rubbish after GGG beat him, Andy Lee? Nah, Sturm, well obviously has some kinda pedigree, but beaten by Geale and now Soliman x2 (oh... and Macklin), Pirog vanished into thin air after destroying Jacobs who is yet to fight anyone decent since (though can be excused having beaten cancer in the meantime)...um... let's see... Mattvey Korobov may finally (yawn) enter the top ten if he can make it past MexiCAN crusher Uzcategui...perennial contenders Rubio and Mora continue to hang out in the wings whilst future not-quite-good-enoughs like Chudinov and Fletcher fight for title shots...

Hell is that it? I musta missed one or two, surely?

Point being... outside of Golovkin, Quillin, old man Soliman and now.. ahem.. THE NEWLY CROWNED LINEAL 159LB CAMPEON DEL MUNDO, MIGUEL COTTTTTO, there just ain't many recognisable names at MW.

Not saying there isn't plenty of new talent in the division, but it just hasn't fought any of the old talent, which maks it kinda hard to compare.

Given all this I can see the TSs point - that GGG should fight Kid Undercard - cept he can't because Quillin's a Haymon fighter and in any case has shown few signs of wanting to risk his strap and has looked shaky every time he's stepped up a little.

Still, if it were possible, the two should fight.

Similar to the SMW tournament a few years ago...SOG came on top, and he is the man...

So let's start the MW tournament and see who ends on top... I like my boy Cotto to clean it out!!

I think everyone would like a MW tourney, at least if it was handled like the Boxeo tournaments where the fights were frequent. Super 6 drug on way too long.

Honestly I would bet that the fighters themselves would love a tourney format. Managers and promoters sadly have different ideas.

Sad thing is, Soliman wasn't viewed as an exciting enough opponent in the past at times when Golovkin was desperate for a credible opponent, now we're talking about him as a step towards bigger things?

Golovkin was excited about facing both Chavez & Froch as well as Kessler as temporary step-ups at 168. Let the IBF & WBA things sort themselves out in the meantime. Stevens/Sturm (or HNN) will become the mandatory, meantime Soliman has substantial offers against Chudinov & Murray, with Jacobs/Fletcher also getting involved. Let that whole lot of players widdle itself into one solid contender for Golovkin by sometime next year.

Meanwhile, Alvarez looks to be a good bet to ascend to the WBC title. I could see him and Cotto having a couple of fights with Rubio in between.

    Geale is Ring #2

If he beat Soliman now after beating Geale, then he could unify with either Rubio for regular WBC or Quillin for WBO. With 3/4 of major belts and beating Ring #2 as #1 that would give him a credible claim to a new lineage. With that profile it would be hard for Cotto or Canelo to ignore the challenge if either still held the top WBC/Ring/lineal designation.

GGG isnt on the PPV bandwagon yet like Canelo, so a regular unification bout should be fine.

Lemieux. Gym, Haymon, Showtime. They'll want the Quillin fight after David stops Macklin in October.

I remember the WBC saying fukk you to a unification, as in "keep our belt or their belt, one or the other". I'd have to google it, WBC-IBF at either MW or SMW it was I think.
