why does everyone hate on stevenson for going to showtime and fighting fonfara over kovalev....other than that you just feel that the stevenson owes us something and owes "us" that fight? "oh we the fans dont care about money we just want the best fights".......as we should have learned by now it just doesnt work that way.......stevenson made twice his career high purse against fonfara....and if what stevenson said is true(could be...could be talk) his fonfara purse was more than what hbo offered for kovalev.....which is pretty ridiculous on hbos part......kind of a no brainer for stevenson.....you wanna blame stevenson....prob should be barking at hbo for not putting up a real offer

Does Kovalev have to "prove" himself by beating Andre Ward before he's "earned" a fight with Adonis Stevenson for the lineal title @175?

The logjam needs to be broken and Kovalev and Stevenson need to fight. Everyone is pounding the table for this one. It would be a great PPV success.

While Kovalev is yet to face anyone I would regard as a top fighter at 175lbs (Cleverley was over rated) I assume he's a difficult fighter to get fights for. He's not the biggest draw at the moment and he's killed one boxer already not exactly a guy anyone would want to face for so little financial reward.

It's still early in Kovalev's reign he has time to build his fan base and resume. Stevenson and Hopkins are seemingly set to fight and the network issues are preventing any imminent possibility of a fight with either of them. Pascal and Cloud are looking to face each other in Sept and Dawson has been inactive but will be fighting later this month.

I'd like to see Kovalev face Dawson, Dawson still has a name and if he looks good in his comeback fight would be a good opponent. Though I doubt he'll stop Dawson as quickly as Stevenson did.

But I will add that I was disappointed that Kovalev didn't enforce his mandatory with Hopkins and chose Cleverley instead. But as I said it's still early yet and hopefully the opportunities will come.
