I don't see how the last round could have gone to Algeri. I thought he gave it away in the 12th by running and not doing anything.

He closed well in the final thirty seconds, and outlanded Provo in a couple of later exchanges. I scored the final round for the Siberian, based on more consistent work but it was pretty closely contested and could have swung to the challenger.

Just because Algieri "ran" doesn't mean he lost if Provodnikov also did next to nothing.

You don't get extra credit for 'making the fight', contrary to popular belief.

If he wasn't landing his own punches and cutting off the ring and winning exchanges, he wasn't "making the fight," so point is moot.

all props to Algieri toughing it out with that bad eye from round one but he did not win that fight convincingly to take the strap from Prov. i can see a draw. gotta watch it again.

it wasnt like the Bradley fight where Brabdley went down and got hurt Bad and came back at times to hurt the russian winning rounds convincingly. IMO

    It was close, little connected.

    I gave it to Algieri.

    Home cooking.

The white and blue judges didn't have a clue. In the championship rounds, one had it all 3 for Ruslan, the other had it 2-1 for Algieri.

I would say Algieri scored 6 meaningful punches in the entire fight.

Prodovnikov won the last round, Algieri barely even threw any punches he was just running and spoiling, not much landed for Provodnikov but at least he was throwing punches. I don't see how you can give Aligeri that round.

Always interesting to see the full scorecards and see how one judge came up with such a different scorecard.

On the scorecard that gave it to Ruslan of the nine rounds he gave to him at least one of the other judges agreed with him on six of them.

Also out of the two judges that scored it for Algieri they gave six different rounds for Provodnikov(1,6,9,10,11,12) if they had agreed with each other on those rounds it would have given Ruslan a 114 -112 win.

I don't know man, I was under the impression that if neither of the guys lands anything significant you give the round based on activity and aggression.
