What a crazy win for Algieri, a great story. No one believed in him, just himself and his team. :deal

20-0 in kickboxing, a former kickboxing world champion

20-0 in boxing, the WBO 140 LB boxing champion of the world

No blueprint to beat Chris Algieri in kickboxing/boxing :deal

Damn look at that eye. :barf

Kinda embarrassing for boxing when you think about it. A former kickboxer with no boxing background can just come in and beat one of the most feared boxers in the sport. Must make amateurs with 300+ amateur bouts who never won world titles feel pretty bad too.

Didn't even think of that, but you're right. Pretty sad.

Yeah, I am sure Algieri is going to be the new sensation. Watch Chris pirouette and crush that cream puff in his new pink lingerie. Check out Chris's new Crush that Puff lingerie line. Also available in baby blue.

He has been training kickboxing since a young age. It's not boxing but it's pretty damn close and you can see it in his foot work. Ruslan actually being considered the king at 140 is more embarrassing to boxing because how limited he is. If he beat danny garcia then I would say that is embarrassing for this sport.

Vitali Klitschko did Kick Boxing too despite his Boxing amateur background. Nothing embarrassing there really. The man showed he has ability, insane heart and serious skills. Not many people can do what he did especially after that devastating first round.

A professional fighter is a professional fighter, nothing for amateurs to be embarrassed about. The guy is a boxer and has long been a professional fighter, would u be embarrassed if Bruce Lee had entered boxing and became a belt holder? NO! Same goes for jet li And others except Chuck Norris, then I would be embarrassed.

Nice win, nice story, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him lose his next fight and drift back into obscurity.

Look how much hate Chris is getting lol. Unjustified completely.

The dude is humble, the dude is hard working and has a great outlook on life. How can you hate this man?

Just yesterday, everyone was saying how he'd be ko'd in 3 rounds and now he's the center of hatred on this forum. smh

Depends on who he's up against. He's the type of guy who seems beatable, and it wouldn't surprise me if someone like Khabib Allahkverdiev or Viktor Postol were to beat him, either. That said, I don't think he's the type of guy who is going to be blown out by anyone he faces, and would probably do well enough even in a losing effort to secure at least one or two more televised fights.

Who's hating? Do you even understand the word? No adult should be using that word, it's called a difference of opinion based on information.

Good points. The 140 LB division continues to add talent.

Vitaly had extensive amateur background despite being a kickboxer too.

The notion being a kickboxer vs boxer is the former trains both feet and hands, the latter only trains hand therefore the boxer is so much more proficient than a kickboxer in boxing alone.

MMA guys also train to box. If an MMA fighter with 0 official boxing background went into boxing, and won a world title, it would be really impressive and at the same time embarrassing for boxing. Boxing got beat at its own game. This is what happened with Algerie. The guy has 20 boxing bouts.

Funny. If he was black you'd say he's hated because "nobody likes a young successful black man"

And nobody is hating. The guy is a great role model for the sport. Well spoken, has a Masters degree and got a lot of heart, made the most of his strengths in there, he was also a top athlete in school so he's obviously special.

Firstly, I wouldn't say anything like that

Secondly, have you been reading some of the posts in regards to Algieri?

    "Algieiri hits like a girl"

"Algieri will fall back into obscurity"

Making fun of Algieri's eye etc etc etc. :patsch
