This is the best knockout of all time. Tommy Hearns was just awesome at 154 knocking out Roberto Duran.. Two legends fighting and a great result. And both of them were champions. Thomas Hearns at WBC and Roberto Duran of the WBA.

Probably my favorite ko ever. The sound the punch makes is chilling.

when Hearns hit Duran to the body with those jabs you can see Duran confused a little and he drops his left hand and Thomas Hearns comes over with the right.

Well said. I just rewatched it. It doesn't even look real, the speed and sound of it is insane.

When you consider what Duran went on to achieve after this loss, in addition to the fact that no one else was ever able to even knock him over, not even when he was fifty years old and then consider that most people place Duran amongst the ten greatest fighters of all time then an argument can probably be made for this being the single greatest KO of all time. It's certainly one of them.

    More than that.

This is the very fight that first got me into boxing.

I didn't see it live, I saw the replay, just by chance, on World of Sport the following morning. I didn't know anything about either fighter at that time, but I'd never seen anything like it. Hearns was mesmerizing, I'd never seen anyone move like that before and then the knockout. Boom! It was electrifying.

I'd seen boxing before and I knew about Ali and a few other famous names, but this was something else, I'd never seen anything quite like this and the whole thing really captured my imagination. I've been hooked on boxing ever since.

I was thirteen years old at the time and Hearns is still my favourite boxer today.

Thomas Hearns is one of those guys who came to fight everytime out. I love Hearns. Tommy Hearns is one of the greatest of all time and one of the most exciting. That right hand and jab.. Not many better. Duran shouldn't have fought Hearns. He was too fast and his right hand too hard. And Hearns could box and punch. The outboxed Virgil Hill.

Awesome knockout, although I don't consider it a "one-punch knockout" like people often mention it as. He was dropped twice in round 1 and was already hurt in the 2nd before that final right hand. As the commentator said, "Duran was fighting off instinct". He had eaten a big right hand about 15 seconds earlier as well.

The jabs to the body were mentioned...Hearns was a very good body puncher and that doesn't get talked about much, probably because it gets overlooked due to his deadly straight right. He had an excellent left hook to the body.

The 2nd knockdown of Duran was from a bodypunch. Duran was throwing a shot too and actually jumped in the air when he was hit

It still lives in my memory today. Hearns was the first and only one who knocked out Duran with that brutal and beautiful striaght right hand.

Duran fell on the floor like a giant three was cut by a chain saw.
