Yes, he was alright and he was charismatic and knew boxing but he would "insert foot into mouth" a few more times than I preferred.

He was funny as hell with some of his comments during the riot at MSG after the 1st Bowe-Golota fight!

Foreman would do better as a UFC commentator cause he only knows punching but very like about the sweet science.

George was actually a very good commentator. His insight was always spot on and he regularly put Merchant's drunken ass in his place.

Having said that, Foreman was *the* biggest de la Hoya homer on the planet. Listening to him call a de la Hoya fight was like masturbating with a cheese grater.

My dream team would be George Jones and Paulie all calling a fight together, get all everyone else off the mic. Paulie giving Technical break down, Jones giving fighter mentally, and George giving the blow by blow and whatever else he felt like saying at the time.

    Lmao classic.

"THE BEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN IN BOXING!" - fighter got DSQ

"I don't like the way the sweat is rolling off Jones head"
"Sometimes sweat falls pitifully sometimes it just falls"

I was a fan the moment he called the Bowe-Golota I aftermath.

"Don't do it, son! Don't do that!"

Big George was no Sugar Ray Leonard as a commentator on HBO, or even a slightly charismatic Barry Tompkins, but he was definitely more likable and positive than Larry Merchant.

    This.

This... Except for the bit about "his lack of knowledge." I won't go that far.

    This.

Lennox Lewis was actually a great commentator, people just didn't like him because of his Canadian accent. He offered great boxing input as well as a few gems here and there.

    "It's ovah!"
