 lucky huh. algieri got his 15 min of fame. he loses to any fighter in the top 10. ruslan ko's him in a rematch.
Despite the one sided nature of the fight from round 2 on, I would say that there probably should be a rematch. The first round did happen and for some reason a good amount of people scored it for Provodnikov somehow. Provodnikov lost his title, so yeah, an immediate rematch would be appropriate. I see no reason for anything different to occur and would pick Algieri in this one...
Most sensible post so far. This is exactly how the two guys should move forward. Get Provodnikov back to his winning ways and Algeri more exposure. Rematch could be a lot bigger.
I think the new title holder needs time to heal up, so Provo should take a fight in the interm, Then a rematch. I would not have a problem with Algeria taking on fight in between as well. However, I think he would be the underdog against most of the top guys in the division.
Give him a voluntary then a rematch. Provo was outboxed pitter patter punches count and a fight is not judged on how each boxers face looks post fight.
Yes, there was a rematch clause in the contract, so Algieri has to fight a rematch and Roach wants it ASAP. That fight should have been stopped according to the rules, Algieri could not see out of that eye, those are the rules, but it was a home town decision. Provodnikov did the damage, Algieri did nothing.........
Algieri has figured him out by now. The rematch would have no knockdows, only a schooling by Algieri. Ruslan makes no adjustments because he has no ring IQ.
i wouldnt complain but theres no need for one and Algieri could well be within his rights to fight a mandatory Lucas Mathysse Cesar Rene Cuenca Zahir Raheem Mauricio Herrera Thomas Dulorme Viktor Postol Khabib Allakhverdiev
No, absolutely not. Provodnikov blew a 10-7 opener and dropped eight of the remaining eleven to a novice (at this level). How exactly does he deserve a rematch? :huh
