You guys are misreading Martinez wobbly legs.

After 1st rd Martinez had blood behind his left ear from that 1st Cotto left hook.
He simply never recovered from that hook to the ear that affected his equilibrium.

Simply put...Martinez got an Old Fashioned Ass Kicking!!!

 

i'm not misreading anything. cotto did exactly what i thought he'd do. all i'm saying is that martinez' legs weren't what they used to be and thats true. even before he took that shot...u could tell that he was more on his heels than his toes.

 

Martinez's legs were done, period. It doesn't mean that's why Cotto won, just means the fight was less competitive. Anyone who says Martinez's legs were 100% need to ask themselves why the hell he was wearing a knee brace!

I will give you Martinez came out flat footed, but I will also say he has came out flat footed before and gotten more on his toes as the fight went on, as he did in the Cotto fight at times.

Martinez was able to move around the ring when he wanted to, very quickly. I think he came out with the idea that he was the bigger stronger faster guy.

Coming out flat footed doesn't necessarily equal knees 100% shot.

And even if he couldn't move quickly (which he could), he could have still technically positioned himself better. He looked like an amateur.

Also, bouncing in and out doesn't work as well when you are being bullied around the ring playing the smaller man, or when everything you throw is being countered, dont want to jump in and get caught with some ****.

 

theres going to be a lot of cotto fans with hurt feelings when miguel defends his middleweight title.

Cotto took an educated gamble(vs Martinez) that paid off. Nothing but props to him but his next fight will have a lot of detractors saying I told you so and Cotto hardcore fans scratching their heads.

The fight was stopped since Cotto was moving with lead in his boots!!!
