I wrote a while back that this mandatory stuff is just too much now. Its all Hearn talks about. Its the only way he seems to be able to gets his guys shots at titles. Kell Brook (who maybe his own worst enemy) is obviously a talent and has literally been sat around for two years now. I really don't know why they couldn't get him on an American show against the likes of Soto Karass, Berto, Aydin etc. No one in America cares about him because he hasn't fought any one and belts don't mean a great deal now any way. Porter could vacate the belt, Brook beat a nobody for the strap and so what. He still won't be any further progressed. I'm not saying he should have fought Bradley when offered, but look how far Provodnikov is now after losing to Bradley. Since then he has won and lost a world title, in the same period Brook has fought Carson Jones, Senchenko and Robles and is sitting around at 28 years old waiting.

    Eddie Hearn route:

    Fight 3 x nobody
Fight for a world title eliminator v c class opponent
Fight for a final world title elininator v b minus class opponent
Get you arse whooped away from home v a class opponent

    Completely unexciting and stalls careers.

You are a promoter and match maker! Do some matchmaking!

Porter trying to duck the special one by taking the easy way out and fighting Floyd.

True, but at that point Alexander-Brook was signed, sealed and delivered by all parties- this is not the case With Porter-Brook.

Yep because a fight with the P4P 1, will be alot 'easier' than fighting Kell "I have no-one special on my record" Brook.

Getting beat by Mayweather looks much more respectable than getting knocked out by the special one

    Why would Hearn lie?

    He's not FW.

Hearn has said on twitter today that brook has signed the contract. They are are waiting on confirmation of the date - with the 9th of August likely. Maybe Showtime simply aren't mentioning it until it's confirmed?

Either way I can't see how this is Brooks or Hearns fault. The stalling seems to be on Goldenboys part.

This situation is probably Hearns first real major political test in the international market that I can recall and its going to be real interesting to see how he handles it. If it gets confirmed that Porter is going in another direction then Hearn must, must put his hand in his pocket- loss or not and deliver either a big international name over here in the uk (Paulie would be acceptable IMO if he would come) or at least get Brook on a US undercard again against reputable opposition....

Yeah the sanctioning fee they could get from a mayweather fight would massively outstrip a brook one, heard stephen a smith saying a few weeks back that Floyd v manny could potentially happen (and he's fairly connected with floyd) so Floyd goes out to get the IBF strap and then has a massive unification with pacquiao next year for the undisputed welterweight champion? Don't think Floyd has ever had a wbo belt (although quite a few fighters like froch don't seem to have much interest in that belt)

That was kind of part my point. Brooks mandatory and signed the contract. He's done his bit - as has Hearn. If it doesn't happen it's down to Porter. Showtime aren't going to/cant announce it until it's a done deal. We'll soon see. If he has a chance to fight Mayweather - which explains the stalling - it obviously isn't happening

if people are honest, it is plainly obvious, its the porter camp holding this up.

Remember, porter isnt a Goldennoy fighter, he is an exclusive haymon only fighter.
