How many beat Larry Holmes ?

i thiink lewis has more of a chance than ali.
ali gets out jabbed, lewis has a better offense and longer reach.

but i dont see anyone beating holmes maybe apart from tyson because he had the style to do so.

 

Holmes Lewis is a difficult one to call, because they both have something that can potentially tip the fight in their favour.

Holmes is probably going to be able to outbox Lewis, but Lewis’s power and right hand can make this a dangerous strategy to implement.

However, I'll assume you mean on a good night with both fighters at their best, and no major fu ck-ups...

100 to one Bummy shows up and picks Marciano

 

Frazier, Norton and Marciano all have the stylistic advantages to beat Holmes. Marciano's lack of head movement could hurt him, the Norton fight would be close, just like their first encounter. I'd probably back a more youthful Ken to nick it and I have the utmost confidence in picking Frazier here. He may even stop Larry late.

 

Agree with you on Norton. For all his shortcomings the man would have been a nightmare for any pure boxer.. Ali, Holmes, Charles, Tunney, etc. would have always struggled with Ken.

Frazier would make for great fight but lean towards Larry, I also beleive he would have had Ali's number. Liston would be competive.
I had a chance to talk to Larry several years ago and he always felt Foreman would be a walk in the park for him. Not that it matters much because Larry was always supremely confident, I didn't expect to hear otherwise from him.

Marciano would KO Holmes IMO but so would Joe Louis and very impressively I also see Mike Tyson doing it again. I also like Dempsey against Holmes and Frazier

Holmes-Lewis I like Lewis early but if Holmes can stay away and survive his chances get better

Ali would beat Holmes

Max Baer has a right-handed punchers chance and so does Schmeling but I would not bet too much unless other signs indicated

Liston- good shot at stopping Larry

 

Good call on Schmeling Bummy- def has a shot with his right. Baer to me is too sloppy and doesn't possess the footwork but nice choices.

 

Might be a good stylistic foil.
