The running order @ the Braehead Arena in Glasgow:

3:10pm EST (8:10pm local) - Stephen Simmons vs. Wadi Camacho, 10 rounds @ cruiserweight

Following that - Willie Limond vs. Curtis Woodhouse, 12 rounds @ light welterweight

Following that - Ricky Burns vs. Dejan Zlaticanin, 12 rounds @ lightweight

Stephen Simmons vs. Wadi Camacho, 10 rounds @ cruiserweight

 

A lot of people are expecting this might be the FOTN, and that whoever comes out ahead will be a real player at European level or beyond.

I have myself honestly never been too high on the Spaniard or the Scotsman; both decent but nothing special. Perhaps they will bring out the best in each other tonight as many are hoping and I'll finally see what many of my UK brethren have in this pair. :conf

 

Round 1

Simmons is throwing big left hooks up top, keeping his arm level with his shoulder all the way through execution of the motion, powerful and fluid but a bit telegraphed and not set up with a jab. Camacho leans into him, flurrying lightly up from the hip in his relaxed southpaw upright stance. Simmons grinds into Camacho with his thick arms, shoving him back and trying another hook up top. Lunging right falling in by Simmons, missing. Light right jabs and flurries upward by Camacho while circling on his toes. Right hand after the bell from Simmons.

Round 2

Simmons is held outside by the light but timely right jab of Camacho. Simmons is practicing duck-and-rolls on the outside even when Camacho isn't jabbing, getting different looks at him from a crouch off center. Very busy right jab from Camacho, often just pumped in the air but tapping Simmons on the forehead when he comes forward to attack. Simmons is running in with lead right uppercuts on the body and banging around the other side with left hooks, but Camacho leaps back into the ropes, pivoting off them and making Simmons only just scrape a bit of skin. Right hand for Simmons gets through, clipping the jaw. Camacho ducks low to avoid the next 1-2 and shows the high right jab, dropping a left hand in from long range in between Simmons' gloves.

Round 3

Simmons is ducking in and touching Camacho with the right hand up top. Camacho is circling warily and flicking out right jabs. Simmons walks him down and wrestles Camacho onto the ropes. Back of the head smacked by Simmons with the underside of his right glove. Warning. Break. Camacho slithers outside, ducking low, caught by a left hook. Camacho darts in with a discouraging right jab, barely grazing, and bounces in place when he reaches the perimeter again, where Simmons catches him with a right hand down the pipe. Camacho slightly rattled.
