I talked **** about GRJ and that bout was as uncompetitive as I expected. But GRJ showed that he can be something with some more high class competition. He was always a step behind but not too far behind, and he showed a lot of grit and determination I didn't expect him to have. I expect GRJ to become a champion in the future.

 

When Gamboa beat Salido he was in his prime and he weighed the same as Salido on fight night. Add in that Gamboa lost rounds to Salido and was dropped by Salido.. that wasn't a dominant win in anyway by Gamboa. I'm a big Gamboa fan but he needed to stay active in recent years, he would've beat Crawford if he was smart and boxed, threw combinations and got out. Lomachenko's win over GRJ was comprehensive, while Gamboa made the bigger Crawford look out of his depth whenever he boxed.
The questions is, what was the better PERFORMANCE. Not what was the better win. Idiots still can't comprehend the question. The answer is Lomachenko. Idiot.

This wasn't the Gamboa of featherweight. This was a terrible version of Gamboa who had no power, was far too small, in a terrible stylistic match up.

Lomachenko did all of this in his 3rd pro fight. Crawford waited till 23-0.

Crawford's performance but I like how the same guy who was hyping GRJ as the next great p4p talent and telling us how much of a bum Lomachenko is, suddenly did a 180 and now Russell was a bum.

 

Lomo. Crawford was losing the fight until he turned it around when Gamboa foolishly elected to stand snd trade. Lomo was never behind on the cards.

Similarly I disagree with your premise that GRJ was more athletic. Gary has faster hands-- that's it. Lomo has faster feet, is just as fluid, and has superb reflexes.

 

And yet you picked him to beat Lomo easily as I recall.

 

Crawford had the better win and performance. Loma and Crawford both enjoyed size advantages in their bouts. But, Gamboa is a different animal than GRJ. Crawford was forced to show a lot more dimensions in that fight. Gamboa made Crawford dig deep and brought out the boxer, the warrior, the tactician, and when it came down to it...the dog. Loma put on an excellent display of boxing, though.

First....I wanna say that GRJ did far better than I expected. Choosing to stand and trade rather than run from exchanges. He proved his jaw was sturdy and that he belongs in the top 20 of 122-130.

Second.....I was very impressed with Gamboas first 4 rds. He hurt Crawford a couple times and was bedazzling him with his inside combo punching.

BUT....overall, soooo many ppl are saying Crawford looked like Tommy Hearns in there last night....well I say he looked like FUKKING Deigo Corrales in there. Taking bombs and landing his own. He and Gamboa put on a show almost as good as Castillo v Corrales 1........without the questionable stoppage.

That said........Crawford beat the better overall fighter in Gamboa(yeah, I know rust, chin, size, yadayadayada) and made the far more exciting fight nearly to his own peril.

Better performance....TKO9....better win TKO9......better fight for the fans.......TKO9

 

Getting schooled on the outside by a midget for four rounds and eventually overwhelming them with sheer size advantage is not a great win. Gamboa fighting at Lightweight is like Crawford fighting at WW where he would get slaughtered by any top ten guy.

Dunno what the point of this thread is but Lomachenko is obviously on another level to Crawford, Crawford is way too easy to hit and doesn't look particularly special in any department

Gamboa was way more accomplished than russell so you have to say Crawford ko9 gamboa
