Yes on par because they are both very good and future world champions who will no doubt meet to unify the division:good
This could happen. They're both good enough to win a version. No real stars in the division now except Ward and to a lesser extent Froch. We were talking about this a while ago. I said, when George was on the up and up that this could be turned on its head, and I think it was you who agreed. Now James is in the ascendancy, but there isn't much between them as boxers. But I think George has got to fight regularly now if he's to get back to the top. I don't care what anybody says these 2 losses have done him no good whatsoever.
You obviously know nothing about the business of boxing. These two 'losses' have done him the world of good. There are former world champions who don't have the money or profile that 26 year old has right now. He boxed in front of 80,000 fans at 26. It won't get any bigger for him than that, and if he can handle that kind of pressure, he can handle a WBO title shot in Germany in front of a few thousand fans eating caviar.
Like Adam Booth says a loss is always a disaster. But Groves has remarkable strength of mind and im sure he will be back. Its like he said on Ringside ''I dont need Eddie Hearne to tell me, to know i will one day win a World Title.''
Any news on opponent chaps ? Kalle said be out on 20th. You reckon O2 it's free that night so is Wembley area
To be fair mate,he said a lot of things before the Froch fight that turned out to be a pile of shite, but I still think he'll be the hardest puncher in that division soon enough if not now. But out him in with a durable 12 round fighter and there's always a danger he could end up with his foot wrapped round his head again. DeGale has to be the opponent within 3 fights to restore his credibility, because even though it looks a tougher fight now,he has that mental edge that he had when Cash underestimated him first time like Chunky did. And all this "one legitimate loss" is a really desperate and unnecessary shout. Pretty safe to say now that Cash would've stopped him anyway.
Sergey Khomitsky would be a good choice of opponent for Groves as he coming off a good win over Buglioni and he has the WBO strap and top 15 ranking. Khomitsky's beatable, but he's very tough and durable and only GGG has stopped him, so Groves would make a statement if he could do the same.
Ive only gone as far as this in this discussion, and I agree with this Terry. IMO Groves should never have fought Froch in the 1st place. The boxers he had tackled up to then were nowhere near that league.Trouble was,he wasn't very active before then, and the opportunity, and money, was there far too early. But impossible to turn down. Now for the bit you may not agree with me on. I don't agree with those who say these 2 fights will have done him no harm. To me it was slightly disastrous, really. As far as his next opponent,I think it will be somebody of the level of his prior opponent to Carl,Noe Gonzalez. Definitely no better. Id like to see him against somebody of the level of James Degales last opponent maybe 2 fights down the line before going for a title. But the secret is activity. Id also be a bit surprised if he boxed in September. He's got the talent,I was absolutely amazed at him in the 1st Froch fight. But whether he actually does win a title remains to be seen.
I know a lot more than you think,Sly. Thats a bit dogmatic, mate. The fact is he has just been stopped twice, and you're telling me thats done him a power of good? Financially, yes.Im not saying he can't beat Abraham, who is past his best,or Steiglitz. Im just saying as a boxer he should have had more fights at a higher level before tackling a beast like Froch. But its all about money. Thats the business of boxing.
Thanks Skills. Was beginning to think I knew F all before your agreement. Confidence restored. Good we can come on here when the other place is down. Beginning to warm up again.
