Please discuss I'm not exactly sure what SMS has done for Gamboa, Gamboa has been fighting low ranked/underwhelming opponents until last Sat night/Oh and the sudden inactivity. It's even rumored said that he earned close to nothing in those bouts. atsch Being in TMT, he would have had many chances to be on Floyd's undercard where he would have earned some good money. IMO, leaving TMT was probably the worst choice of his career, he decided to go with someone whose had no experience in being a boxing promoter (Although he's a good businessman himself). :deal That same guy walked out of the stadium when Gamboa lost. What a shame.
Signing with 50 doesn't seem like a great move in retrospect. He's been matched poorly and has been very inactive.
I am genuinely surprised that I am one of the only few here (possible the only one) that was never impressed by Gamboa. He has way too many flaws and not a solid enough chin to make up for it. I personally felt like it was just a matter of time before someone ko'd him. I like the guy as a person, as he seems great, but he really has too many damn flaws. I feel as though people here just get impressed with speed and power, ignoring many other facets of the sport. In short, no, a promotional company would not have made a difference, and possibly nothing at this point can get rid of his horrible habits.
I agree. His hand-speed served him well as an amateur, but many of those flaws you mentioned haven't done him any favors as a pro.
For him, or for anybody. It should have been fairly obvious that Curtis Jackson was as equipped to promote the prizefighting game as fellow celebrity dabbler Nicole Polizzi. (real names of 50 Cent and Snooki, for the culturally disconnected) Throwing his lot in with Mayweather when they were still buddies, and lending his financial support and popularity to a brand is one thing. Up and deciding "I can jump into this with no experience and be a major player" - that's just silly. It was always going to just be a gimmicky farce that never went anywhere. Lo and behold...
hahaha...so glad you cleared that up cus was immediately lost when you mentioned Nicole Polizzi.....no idea that was Snooki's real name
I've called it from day 1 TMT will eventually evolve into a world class brand, and Mayweather's promotional company will be one of the biggest in the next few years. Him leaving TMT could be the biggest mistake of his life If I was a boxer, I'd be all over TMT. Pretty sure many people would as well.
going to tmt was the worst decision in gamboa's career. if gamboa stayed with tr, fought and beat rios, he would be ppv/mil+ per fight fighter at this time.
Fighting a skilled guy that's naturally 2-3 weight classes bigger than you wasn't the best idea Gamboa is 126 pound fighter Crawford a 140 pound fighter
