Oh oh....that could be bad news. Remember the recent martin Murray v Sergio Martinez fight. They used that kind of set up...an awning covering just the ring and a few ringside rows. Not only did the fans get soaked, but the wind-blown rain slanted in under the awning and turned the wet canvas into a slippery skating rink. Basically they are gambling with the Irish weather....
Not exactly on topic but does anyone know why exactly the Benn/Watson fight was held in a tent? Was Wembley Arena being fumigated at the time?
Was it a roofed over tent? As opposed to just the ring itself being covered? What was the attendance figures? Ie how many people can you fit in a tent..
What I want to know is what is the max number that you can fit in a covered roofed-over tent? Could the titanic centre event be accommodated in a covered tent? Having it in the open is very risky in Ireland given the unpredictable weather. Also the atmosphere is much more intense in a closed in structure.
Any word on a seating plan or even who the tickets are being sold through? It's hard to know how far back from the ring the tiered seating will start - will it be better to get a ticket towards the front of the tiered seating or one on the ground levell. Any thoughts?
small tip for anyone going look for a hotel or digs to stay in near the venue. the nearest place is premier inn which is just right about next to where the fight will be from what they tell me and also just a five minute walk to city centre. now...here's the thing...try and book that for that day and its sold out.....normally they are 29 quid rooms.....nearest in a four mile radius would be up to nearly 100 sterling that night......but....if you go to premierinn.com and book for 2 nights, say the saturday and sunday, rooms are available NOW...it will be 58 pounds though......but that is still cheaper than other options i have found...with the added advantage of top location and having a decent lie-in on sunday morning without worrying about check-out times if you go on the beer after the fight the night before. anyway...just saying. http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/...ord|premier inn titanic quarter|match|e|plid|
Ah yes,September in Ireland. All the Jet set fly there for the beautiful guaranteed sunny weather and lay on the sandy beaches that time of year.atsch
I hope it all goes well, and I can't really get my head round how it'll be set up, but...... Barry better pray for sunshine!
Just had a look at 6,000 tiered seating hire. 4 of those and you're laughing. A circus tent setup would be good! Some shelter
Any rumours on the undercard? Hoping it's a little better than the Cazares one, the Parodi one had a few good fights from what I remember.
Anybody flying from Leeds Bradford? If I manage to get a ticket I'll fly in to Belfast early morning Saturday and leave early morning the Sunday, probably pointless to even spend £120+ on a hotel
